Our take

Human Diagnosis Project is an open diagnostic system for doctors and caregivers that collates the knowledge of a global network of physicians and researchers into a database. Working both as a for-profit and a non-profit, Human Diagnosis Project, or Human Dx, has amassed hundreds of thousands of cases from 60 countries and 400 medical institutions.

With an arm dedicated to collating medical information, another to answering medical questions from its community, and resources for medical partnerships, the Human Diagnosis Project is essentially building what is almost a Reddit or Wikipedia-type knowledge base but for proven medical information. The possibilities are huge, especially as a service for countries where medical attention is not free at the point of need. Human Dx could save many people time and money when seeking the right diagnosis or route for care.

Human Dx’s partners are influential, including the Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins University, and the UCSF. With significant funding from the likes of Union of Square Ventures and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Human Dx must maintain its rapid growth and independence as a medically verified resource to become a worldwide health asset.
