Thirdfort is on a mission to protect society from fraud and money laundering. Now professionals working in law, property, and finance can onboard their clients in minutes, not weeks.
FCA-regulated Thirdfort is a web and mobile app that combines document scanning, facial recognition technology and Open Banking, to streamline identity and source of funds checks carried out by lawyers, conveyancers, estate agents and financial services organizations.
Thirdfort's technology replaces the inefficient manual methods currently used by these firms, improving identity verification, and reducing the risk of fraud and cybercrime, whilst improving customer experience. It also allows users to onboard their clients quickly, securely and entirely remotely.
As businesses look to accelerate the adoption of secure, remote, user-friendly technology, Thirdfort has found itself able to scale its customer base to over 1000 businesses. Backed by the likes of law firm Mishcon de Reya and HM Land Registry, it is clear the company has earned the trust of the legal and property industries, and has the potential to become a new standard in the sector.

My opinions are valued
Jan 2022
Everyone at Thirdfort is passionate about having an open culture but our founders in particular are really open and honest. I've really valued their transparency around our fundraising, regularly speaking openly about what stage they're at before its been announced, even sharing their investor pitch in an all hands and hosting Q&As so people could ask questions which are typically less spoken about in other companies. No topic is off limits and it's really interesting to hear what goes on and how they approach it.

There are loads of opportunities to learn at Thirdfort. We have an unlimited L&D budget which is great and really reflects our culture of continuous learning. I'm also constantly being pushed to achieve my full potential by my manager and wider team, often a bit outside of my comfort zone which is challenging at times but means I learn a lot and it's really nice I'm trusted + given ownership of important projects. Our OKR process also ensures people have opportunities to get involved in different projects and take ownership which is very rewarding.

To break a very analogue industry is a challenge within itself. Changing perceptions and legacy software that users are used to, with new and time saving tools can be difficult. Having said that, though the work we do might be challenging, the impact that the work we are doing on the legal and property markets are huge. Even down to their own clients, the software that we are developing has a huge part to play in life's big transactions and we are enabling users to move fearlessly through them.

At Thirdfort we have a core value of 'operating openly' which is actively used across all parts of the business this value means anyone irrespective of experience level or team is able to honestly ask and be able to understand any part of the business. Each week different teams discuss what they have been up to and have been working on, allowing you a real insight into the wider business. You can see in day to day work as a Software engineer that the teams within Thirdfort are always willing to engage and explore ideas raised by anyone and often these ideas will lead to new features or improvements upon existing ones.

Whilst there are many different levels of experience and backgrounds within our engineering team everyone is a 'Software Engineer' with no concepts of 'Senior' or 'Junior' this leads to a very flat structure and enables everyone to have an equal voice and opportunity whether having technical discussions or exploring improvements to the platform. This flat structure ensures that regardless of experience or background everyone opinion is equal and equally considered. This freedom of hierarchy leads to more productive conversations and a better overall end product.

I'm married and have 2 young sons. Many other Thirdforters have families of their own and as such, there's a mutual respect and understanding I've never before seen in my 20+ years working in the industry. Thirdfort as a company values this because they understand that work alone is no the endgame.

I've been at Thirdfort for just over a year now and in that time I've had such incredible support from my direct report all the way up to the CTO. We have a very flat structure in the truest sense of the term, which helps, but also they've shown a genuine interest in my family as well as my own well-being.
