Software engineers are often faced with a conundrum: they require data to build and test products, but are unable to use data already collected by their companies due to privacy and security rules.
Tonic.ai is a company that addresses this problem by mocking more than 10,000 databases to provide high-quality fake data that looks and acts like the real thing, enabling engineers to use the synthetic data for software development and testing.
Tonic’s product is now used across four continents and can list customers in industries from financial services and healthcare to logistics, including eBay, Oscar, PwC, Everlywell, and Flexport. The system was used in extensively in the fight against COVID-19, by giving researchers de-identified patient data that is safe to share around the world.
