Company mission

Tulipshare is on a mission to give a voice to the retail investor and encourage them to rethink their investment strategies.

Our take

In recent years there has been a growing push towards ethical investing, which aims to use investments as tool to promote both financial return and social/environmental good. Historically, however, the achilles heel of ethical investing has been the sheer amount of capital individuals required in order to have a meaningful impact. For example, public companies operate a minimum investment threshold before shareholders can vote, meaning that any shareholder-driven change from within would first require a massive holding unavailable to most retail investors.

This is the market which Tulipshare is seeking to disrupt. Their investment platform allows users to pool shares collectively, allowing retail investors to hold collective influence on large companies. Then, Tulipshare uses this leverage to achieve change from within big companies. Their record so far includes workers’ rights at Amazon, a focus on Coca-Cola’s contribution plastic consumption, and right to repair issues at Apple. The key factor which differentiates Tulipshare in this market, then, is its ability to promote positive change via investment, rather than relying on the passive influence of mere holdings.

To date, Tulipshare has raised $1M in pre-seed funding from Speedinvest and high profile business angels. The platform has already been regulated in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority since April 2021 and is looking to expand to the US market. Expanding its early user base will be vital to its near-future success, and once Tulipshare has built a strong following, it will be able to really expand the range of positive changes it seeks to make in the world.
