Our take
Automation promises to make manufacturing more efficient, but getting started isn't always easy. Industrial robots can be expensive, difficult to program and even slower to install, putting them out of reach for many smaller businesses. With labour shortages growing, manufacturers need automation that's simple to adopt rather than another technical headache.
Founded in 2019, Unchained Robotics makes industrial robots much easier to use. Its LUNA OS software lets businesses control robots from different manufacturers through one simple platform, while its ready-to-go MalocherBot systems help automate tasks like packaging and palletising without specialist expertise.
More than 300 companies across Europe use Unchained Robotics' technology, and the company is now looking to expand into the US. As manufacturers look for practical ways to tackle labour shortages, Unchained Robotics is betting that making automation simple will be just as important as making it powerful.
