Our take

Unity is one of the biggest names in game development, powering everything from indie hits to blockbuster titles. Its real-time 3D engine gives developers and artists the tools to build rich, interactive worlds that run across mobile, PC, console and beyond.

But Unity's ambitions stretch far beyond gaming and over the past few years, Unity's technology has found a home in industries including automotive, film and television, where companies use it to create digital twins, virtual productions and immersive experiences. Its tools also help power augmented reality experiences on devices from companies such as Apple.

In 2021, Unity was used to create 72% of the top 1,000 mobile games and half of all games released across mobile, pc and console. Since its 2020 IPO, the company has continued to expand its platform, and with significant post-IPO funding secured in 2025, Unity now supports more than 20 platforms, operates in over 190 countries and territories, and is continuing to push real-time 3D technologies into new industries.
