Vercel's mission is to enable developers to build and publish wonderful things.
Founded as Zeit in 2015 with an aim of optimizing the whole development and deployment experience, Vercel has since grown into a major Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) provider in the frontend development market.
The company created the very popular Next.js framework, which has become closely tied to the rapidly growing Jamstack development methodology – an architecture that facilitates fast, static and secure sites.
While Jamstack websites have increased by around 50% in recent times, Vercel is not alone in championing the movement. Netlify is another high profile and extremely well funded company in the space.
That being said, Vercel can be very satisfied with its growth thus far considering the customers it has – Netflix, eBay, Meta, McDonalds, The Washington Post, Under Armour are just a handful of major names that use Vercel’s platform.
