Our take

Many fintechs offer access to investing, letting users trade stocks, crypto, and other high-risk assets. But these platforms aren't always built around responsible investing, and for many Muslin users, they also raise concerns about earning returns from non-Halal sources.

Wahed provides an alternative: a Shariah-compliant investment platform focused on ethical, diversified portfolios. Through its robo-advisory tools, it helps users tailor investments to their financial goals while ensuring returns meet Islamic finance principles. With no lock-in periods and a focus on transparency, the platform is designed to make long-term, values-based investing more accessible.

While competition in fintech is intense, Wahed has carved out a clear niche by focusing on underserved Muslim investors. Its expanding its offerings too, including launching new Shariah-screened ETFs listed on the London Stock Exchange, covering global and US equities with strict ethical and financial screening. Alongside earlier backing from instituions like the Quatar Development Bank and features such as its Waqf endowment tool, signalling a shift toward building a larger, globally accessible Islamic investment ecosystem.
