To make great technology accessible to everyone.
Wyze, which was co-founded by a trio of ex-Amazon managers, sells an ever-growing range of smart home products, from cameras to speakers, vacuum cleaners to lighting. The company has made its name by providing these products at considerably lower prices than its competitors.
Though Wyze’s affordable tech model has seen it grow tremendously since being founded in 2017, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. Indeed, some stark security issues with its home cameras were uncovered in early 2022. There’s also been quite an uproar surrounding Google and Amazon’s admission to being open to sharing home camera data with the police without a warrant. It’s worth noting however that Wyze is one of a handful of smart home camera makers that have promised not to do this.
Despite a lack of trust in smart home cameras in some quarters, there is still a huge and growing consumer demand for smart home devices in general. It’s estimated that around 130 million households worldwide have at least one smart speaker for example – a number that’s forecast to treble over the next few years.
Wyze will no doubt continue to champion its range of cameras. Indeed it even recently committed to upgrading them with AI technology after a major round of funding. However, the fact that the company also supplies such a wide range of other products offers a great fall-back option.
