Our take

There is a lot of room for human error in the HR process. Retrain.ai uses AI and data analysis to assist HR operations to reduce hiring time, improve employee retention, and allow companies to more easily future-proof their organization through keeping its workforce skilled in the right areas. Through this, the company wants to boost the efficacy of human resources and recruiting departments.

Retrain.ai's platform allows companies to pull data from across the business to judge the skillsets of employees, applicants, and job roles. With this, the platform then automates candidate matching, career path mapping, and the development of new upskilling opportunities. In this way, Retrain.ai has its finger firmly on the pulse of recruitment tech: plenty of talent management platforms like Pymetrics, Eightfold, and Gloat are taking a similar AI-first tack.

It’s part of a bigger market appetite for new ways of tackling workforce management and planning, which over recent years have undergone some radical new changes. In fact, HR tech has become a multi-billion dollar market, with plenty of VC cash in the water and no clear winners yet. So Retrain.ai has much to play for, and with some strong VC backing under its belt, is making a strong start.

Leadership

Spent nearly two decades with Israeli Military Intelligence, ultimately serving as the CIO and CTO of the directorate. Then worked as the CDO of the Israeli Defence Forces.

Previously worked in research for the United Nations, then moved on to direct micro-VC firm Old City Group. Subsequently served as director of private wealth at M. Schestowitz Ltd., then MD of Northwind Group for nearly a decade.

Originally held a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale Law School, moving on to co-found video enterprise company Kaltura where he spent over 16 years in various senior roles.
