Our take
3D modelling is very commonly used now to analyse and communicate the impact of both existing and new development plans. It can look at zoning regulation, traffic gravity and solar potential of buildings – to name a few. VU.CITY is a city planning tech company creating “digital twins” for some of the world’s largest cities.
The company has already created models for 24 UK cities and has expanded internationally modelling New York and Dublin also. In short, the idea behind VU.CITY is to help real estate developers to make better design and planning decisions. This idea could have immense impact to the efficiency of cities both logistically but also environmentally which is a very appealing factor.
The smart design platform recently closed a round of funding which the company suggest marks the next stage of its growth as it also signs the beginning of a partnership with Ramboll (global engineering and design consultancy). The opportunities for the platform itself along with the collaboration is very exciting and we’re interested to see the large scale impact the company can have on our cities as it scales.
