Who you are
- 5+ years in product, design, engineering, or a similarly hands-on role
- You've built and shipped things you're proud of—not just managed process

- Software that's confusing doesn't just frustrate users—it stops production lines, or worse
- Software that's good doesn't just get clicks—it makes a robot do something useful in the real world that it couldn't do before
- We're looking for a PM who is a builder first
- Someone who wants to own the impact of a product area end-to-end
- Someone who gets genuinely curious about how things work—software, hardware, customers, industries
- Someone with product sense and taste who can tell the difference between "ships" and "good”
- Own product discovery, strategy, and delivery for a core area of our platform (specifics depend on your strengths and interests)
- Go deep on customer problems—talk to users, visit sites, read manuals, understand how robots actually get used
- Define what we're building and why, with clear specs that engineers can run with
- Work hands-on with UX, interaction flows, and functional behavior — thinking through how an individual feature fits together with the rest of the system
- Collaborate with engineers, designers to iterate prototypes, validate assumptions, and de-risk work early
Our take
In recent years, the field of robotics has brought to life ideas that once belonged to the world of sci-fi. But, robots are still extremely complex to program, making the automations they facilitate out of reach for many businesses.
Standard Bots is setting out to change this, with AI-powered robots and a complementary robotics platform that means they can be programmed through simple demonstrations. This approach should broaden the accessibility of robots to businesses of all sizes, enabling them to employ automations that can give them a competitive edge.
It's an intriguing proposition, and investors agree, with the company raising substantial funding to support its mission. Standard Bots plans to use these funds to expand its engineering team and speed up the development of its robots. The company will, however, likely need to contend with competition from inexpensive robots from China as it develops into the future.
