Who you are
- Professional Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in Investment Banking/Private Equity and FP&A/Strategic Finance role at a high-growth technology company
- Analytical Rigor: Advanced financial modeling skills with a focus on accuracy and scalability. You take pride in the quality of your work and can translate complex data into reliable decision-making tools
- Agency & Execution: A self-starter who thrives in ambiguity. You are highly organized, capable of managing multiple workstreams, and proactive in moving projects to completion with minimal oversight
- Executive Communication: The ability to distill vast amounts of data into clear, concise, and polished insights for executive audiences
- Financial Management: Comprehensive understanding of financial management, analysis, tools and reporting methodologies. Including experience with selecting and/or implementing FP&A software tools.
- Systems Mindset: A natural inclination to build frameworks from scratch and a desire to make financial processes more efficient as the organization grows
What the job involves
- We are looking for an Associate to join as an early member of our FP&A team. In this role, you will act as a force multiplier for the finance organization, bringing analytical rigor and strategic clarity to our most critical workstreams
- This is a high-visibility opportunity for an impactful contributor to have a front-row seat to the growth of a frontier tech leader and help architect our long-term financial foundations
- Establish Foundational FP&A: Build and manage the core frameworks for a scaling organization, including leadership reporting, monthly budget vs. actuals analysis, and cross-functional financial discipline
- Manage the Full Year Budget and Forecast: Support budget preparation and oversight, involving the development of annual operating budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. Regularly collaborate with leadership, working together to monitor and adjust budgets as needed to protect cash flow
- Reporting and Tracking Financial Performance: Produce accurate and timely financial reports as well as collaborating on the development of board materials
- Create dashboards to monitor daily/monthly financial performance against goals, identifying trends, variances, and risks to support data-driven decision making
- Establish processes and methodologies to track and report on KPI’s
- Continuous System Improvement: Identify, lead, and execute opportunities to improve, automate, standardize financial systems and reporting processes to optimize efficiency
- Provide End-to-End Modeling Support: Build and maintain the sophisticated financial models that underpin our strategic and commercial initiatives—ensuring every decision is grounded in rigorous data
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making. Evaluate investment opportunities, pricing strategies, and cost-saving initiatives
Our take
Autonomous vehicle technology is rapidly developing, and many sectors are recognizing its value. However, whilst the self-driving industry has made significant advancements there is much more that can be done. There are challenges in this space surrounding scale and developing commercially viable self-driving technology.
Waabi hopes to tackle these challenges and be the leader in self-driving technology with their "AI first approach". The company said that combined with a closed-loop simulator, this approach will allow both common driving scenarios and safety-critical edge cases to be tested at scale - solving one of the key issues in the industry.
Waabi has a growing partnership with Volvo, which has seen the two companies develop an autonomous truck together. Volvo has also backed Waabi financially, as have other investors - with the company raising a whopping $1 billion in 2026. This capital will be used to expand into robotaxis through a new partnership with Uber.
