What the job involves
- The Sandbox VR People Team is comprised of three major functional areas, People Ops & Systems, Centers of Excellence, and our Business Partners
- You’ll be a part of our Business Partner function, serving as a vital liaison between the People Team and the business, playing a role that is pivotal in supporting our people and driving business outcomes
- Act as a tactical partner to business stakeholders as it relates to key initiatives and proactively mitigate legal and compliance risks, investigating and addressing employee relations concerns effectively
- Actively execute and make informed decisions within established policies, enhancing employee experience by creating solutions within existing frameworks
- Participate in organizational design conversations to streamline and implement new department structures, roles and/or processes that create speed and efficiency and support rapidly shifting business demands (role re-purposing, restructures, joint venture integrations, etc.)
- Act as the subject matter expert for FMLA, CFRA, state protected and personal leaves, managing precise tracking, eligibility determinations, and return-to-work timelines
- Manage reasonable accommodation and leave requests, coordinating with stakeholders to implement effective return-to-work and transitional work plans
- Coach employees on company policies, employee communication, development and performance management strategies and tactics to promote engagement and a culture of continuous growth and development
- Develop close partnerships with functional teams to deliver integrated solutions to related needs
- Provide performance management guidance to management (counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, etc.)
- Find innovative ways for leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and efficiency
- Leverage metrics and analytics to inform strategies, measure progress against organizational goals
- Execute and identify change management strategies to support critical evolution of the business and achieve desired business results that are sustainable over time
- Partner with People colleagues to identify key talent segments and pivotal roles
- Use employee lifecycle data to help the business make informed decisions about talent management strategies
- Conduct stay and exit interviews for store leadership, analyze trends, and recommend actionable solutions based on findings
- In partnership with the People Team's centers of expertise, lead and design specialized training programs where your expertise adds significant value
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures as needed
Our take
Virtual Reality has existed for decades now, but even recent developments in the technology lack essential factors such as physical immersion and social interaction. Existing VR systems are dominated by sit-down single-player setups, and more immersive experiences are generally expensive and limited spatially.
Sandbox VR operates physical virtual reality spaces for customers to enjoy a multiplayer gaming experience within. The company aims to produce a content ecosystem to compete with existing VR developers for legacy consoles, combatting the expensive technology costs by charging per usage within a fixed location.
Whilst VR is breaking into the mainstream video game console landscape, Sandbox VR stands out by providing an affordable opportunity to test technology that is too impractical and costly for home experiences. Furthermore, the unique approach to multi-player and physical-space-focused VR demonstrates the potential to maintain interest in an industry that consumers have high expectations of.
