Who you are
- We are seeking a highly motivated Software Engineering Manager to contribute to Developer Productivity, with a focus on Test Platform Engineering
- The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for driving impact, and the ability to foster growth in both individuals and teams
- Strong sense of ownership in everything we do, ensuring accountability and excellence in all aspects of our craft
- Proven experience managing software engineering teams, with a track record of delivering high-impact projects
- Ability to independently lead teams in solving open-ended, ambiguous problems with significant business or customer impact
- Strong decision-making skills, balancing technical depth with strategic vision and cross-functional collaboration
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clarity, alignment, and context across all levels of the organization

- A commitment to operational excellence and system health, ensuring high-quality engineering practices and system reliability
- Previous Hands-On Experience in Key Technologies: Python, Kotlin, or React, with a focus on testing best practices. Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) is a plus
- Passion for Innovation and Quality: A commitment to driving technical innovation and improving product quality through scalable, automated testing solutions
What the job involves
- Our team’s flagship platforms provide lightweight test frameworks for every layer, synthetic identities, test data seeding, endpoint mocking, and overall testing infrastructure
- These tools enable Affirm Engineering Teams to perform automated, deterministic testing with consistency across locations
- Additionally, we support our partner teams in conducting exploratory testing, allowing us to collaboratively evolve our ways of working
- As a manager at Affirm, you will balance execution excellence with people-focused leadership, ensuring your team delivers business value while maintaining a supportive and inclusive culture
- Our goal is to create a workplace where teams, composed of partners from engineering, product, and design backgrounds, can focus on creativity and problem-solving, empowered by simplified, repeatable, and automated testing processes
- In this role, you will actively collaborate on the multi-year roadmap, design technical solutions for the hardest problems, and drive cross-team, cross-domain initiatives
- You will work closely with the Engineering Director and the team to enhance quality standards and processes, while representing the team in broader organizational efforts

Affirm offers point-of-sale loans to consumers, working with merchants like Shopify, KAYAK, and Walmart. Buy now, pay later transactions have grown in popularity in recent years, and this business is tapping into the market with a totally different approach to credit - by delivering the Affirm card, the first US debit card with the option to pay-over-time.
Serving over 21 million consumers and over 300,000 merchants, the company offers flexible payback options ranging from 3 to 36 months. The interest rates run between 0% and 30%, so, while they are not necessarily the cheapest option, Affirm prides itself on having no fees for late payments, no hidden charges, and total transparency about what people will pay before they take out a loan.
Affirm collects payments from the customers and pays the merchants directly, shouldering the risk itself. The company has boosted its market share, expanding its availability beyond the US to include most of Canada, and continues to launch new features and create new partnerships towards bettering its offering.
