What the job involves
- The Fraud Intelligence team is the analytical core behind Extend’s post-purchase protection platform. We turn signals and transactions from hundreds of millions of users into the insights that decide what we catch, what we stop, and what we let through
- We love uncovering patterns in messy data to catch bad actors, and fraud doesn't stand still. The work moves quickly: a new tactic shows up, you find it in the data, and you help shut it down. You'll work on the front line of how AI is changing fraud review, alongside Fraud Ops and our Machine Learning team, so your analysis turns into material changes, not just a slide
- If you're data-obsessed, impact-driven, and excited by problems at the intersection of analytics and fraud prevention, you'll thrive here. This is a high-ownership role. Your analysis directly protects retailers, builds customer trust, and moves the company's bottom line. You'll also help raise the bar for the team by reviewing code and mentoring junior analysts
- Analyze large-scale behavioral, transactional, and interaction data to uncover signals indicative of fraud and abuse
- Apply strong business acumen to rapidly identify actionable insights, analyze fraud patterns, and validate hypotheses
- Respond swiftly to emerging fraud threats by developing monitoring frameworks, dashboards, and mitigation solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Evaluate Fraud Ops' AI review agent, both the quality of its case summaries and the accuracy of its recommended decisions, and turn what you find into prompt, rule, and workflow improvements
- Partner with the Machine Learning team to translate fraud pattern findings into model feature recommendations, and give feedback on model scoring based on investigation outcomes
- Participate in design and code reviews, and mentor junior analysts on SQL and analysis best practices
Our take
Extend allows online and offline merchants to offer product warranties and protection plans at the point of sale. It aims to provide a comprehensive and centralized warranty system where before there was not one. The company also provides customers themselves with a fast support experience, where 95% of claims are resolved in just 90 seconds.
Its API based platform is integrated into the likes of Shopify, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and BigCommerce, and can also be integrated into private client-owned e-commerce platforms. This ease of use is what makes Extend so appealing for clients.
On top of this, its seen good funding thats fuelled business growth and geographical expansion. It’s interesting to note that PayPal Ventures and SoftBank are two of their main backers, as this indicates that payment giants see the value of these point of sale transactions. And in 2022, it was named a certified partner of Shopify and reached an important milestone in becoming a full-service company, taking it one step closer to its vision of becoming the "AppleCare for everything".
