Who you are
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related Engineering field (Computer, Software, Electrical, Aerospace)
- 7+ years of experience building, shipping, and iterating on multiple apps and services in your career so far
- Experience designing in collaboration with non-software stakeholders
- Proficient in whatever languages and tools you love most, and willing to learn new ones
- Expert in front-end frameworks (React) and related tools
- Passionate about mentoring and growing the engineers around you
Desirable
- Experience designing and scaling service architectures that support high-performance front-end operations
- Experience with systems-level programming like synchronization primitives, memory management, etc
- Demonstrated experience developing low-latency, safety-critical front-ends
- Experience developing, debugging, and shipping software products on large code bases that span platforms and tools

- With decades of experience scaling world-class technology organizations like Google, CEO Eric Schmidt is guiding Relativity into its next phase: advancing Terran R toward launch and building the foundation for long-term impact
- The Terrestrial Software team is building the foundation for an automated rocket factory and integrated launch platform
- Their mission is to automate and streamline workflows across the entire lifecycle of Terran R, from raw material intake to launch operations and eventually manufacturing on Mars
- Today, that means partnering directly with teams across design, materials, manufacturing, and test and launch to design, implement, and deploy end user enterprise-wide applications, industrial automation, data analytics infrastructure, and next-generation AI to solve real problems and accelerate progress
- Long term, the team is laying the groundwork for a modular, scalable software platform that can power highly autonomous operations on Earth and beyond
- This is a team for builders and thinkers who thrive on cross-functional impact and want to shape the digital backbone of our future in space
- On the Factory Platform team, you will play a key role in the software development life cycle from initial concept, trade studies, design, implementation, and ongoing iteration
- Develop applications used to plan and schedule purchasing and manufacturing operations, access and analyze engine and component test data, and several other tools used by engineers and operators across the company
- Follow agile development practices and implement quality software that is continuously integrated and deployed
- Solve complex problems with simple solutions. Work directly with users and stakeholder teams to figure out system requirements, implement the solutions, and iterate
Our take
Relativity Space has set out to build humanity’s multiplanetary future with its innovative 3D printed rockets. The company is at the forefront of software-defined manufacturing, combining 3D printing, AI, and autonomous robotics to create the “factory of the future.” By utilising 3D printing, Relativity has simplified its supply chain, building rockets in less than 60 days that require 100x fewer parts.
The company completed its flagship Terran 1 rocket and initial round of test flights in 2023. While the first launches technically failed, as the rocket failed to reach orbit, the attempt is still classified as a resounding success, as the rocket managed the highest stress state - Max-Q. The company is currently building its follow-up Terran R rocket, which is set for a debut launch in late 2026. While the company faces competition from SpaceX, Relativity Space’s cheaper and accelerated building process is well set to be a fierce competitor.
