Hands-on experience in model development, specifically with GenAI, NLP-based modeling, transformer-based models, and prompt engineering and evaluation
Proficiency in data manipulation, cleaning, and pre-processing for complex unstructured data sets
A proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment with distributed teams and customers
Experience working with open-source LLM foundation models and APIs for commercial LLMs, such as ChatGPT or Gemini

Clear communication skills and the ability to build trust with both internal teams and external customers

What the job involves

We are currently seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our rapidly growing engineering team

The AI team leverages cutting-edge advancements in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI (GenAI) to develop innovative tools that streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and enable legal professionals to focus on what matters most - justice
Develop advanced machine learning (ML) models using structured and unstructured data to improve Clio’s customer’s experience
Create Large Language Model (LLM) based solutions to help Clio’s clients to save time and create efficiencies
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product management, operations, and data science to identify new ML-driven features for Clio customers
Work in an agile environment with our team of machine learning engineers, MLOps engineers, and software developers across a variety of projects

Our take

Modern law firms increasingly manage their work digitally but the lack of a specialised remote solution means that workflows have become fragmented. This leads to legal practice managers having to juggle multiple software solutions across various devices.

Clio provides a legal practice management platform designed for law firms, allowing users to manage billing for legal aid cases, access and manage documents and store files across multiple devices. Whilst other startups are operating in this niche, Clio has uniquely focussed on synchronisation across remote devices and on a wide range of integrations, allowing the user to access information from other industry standard software such as Xero and Klyant from within a single interface.

Clio has raised a large amount of investment capital and benefited from the COVID-era move to cloud technologies. Most recently, it raised a 2024 Series F round, which saw the company attain a valuation exceeding $3 billion. This funding is being used to accelerate AI development and to allow existing investors and employees to cash out their shares.
