What the job involves
- We’re looking for a sharp and analytical Strategic Finance Lead to help build the financial backbone of Kalshi
- You’ll own forecasting, modeling, and cash management, and play a critical role in supporting investor reporting, fundraising, and cross-functional planning
- In this role, you’ll work across teams to translate complex data into clear financial insights, helping leadership make decisions that shape the future of the first regulated event-trading exchange
- Build and maintain detailed financial models for budgets, forecasts, and scenario planning
- Analyze business performance and key metrics across revenue, expenses, and margins
- Partner with product, growth, and operations teams to gather inputs and validate assumptions
- Prepare materials and analyses for investor updates, board meetings, and fundraising rounds
- Translate complex financial data into clear, compelling narratives for external stakeholders
- Manage cash forecasting and runway analysis to ensure alignment with company growth goals
- Monitor spend against budget and identify opportunities for efficiency
- Conduct research on market trends, competitors, and comparable metrics to inform strategic decisions
- Build models to assess new market opportunities or business lines
- Work closely with internal teams to extract, clean, and interpret financial and operational data
- Support finance leadership in building scalable processes for reporting and planning

Our take
Despite there being a broad choice of investment models, traders have not traditionally been able to invest in the outcomes of future events. Kalshi, as the first federally regulated exchange where users can invest, trade and essentially "bet" on future outcomes, sets out to change this.
The company has launched a unique asset class called "event contracts", where investors can buy simple yes or no contracts based on whether an event will happen or not. Since gaining federal regulation, Kalshi has begun adding expertise in key areas, hiring Google’s Phil Bogle as Director of Engineering and former Nadex CEO Timothy McDermott to the Board of Directors.
The key to the company's future will be maintaining trust with users through transparency, particularly on how more complex or ongoing ‘wagers’ are settled. The team has been backed with funding from Sequoia Capital, who have most likely gauged how valuable the opinion data collected on the site could be to market and political researchers - although the CFTC's reluctance to approve betting on US elections has presented a block in the road for Kalshi's plans to add "the outcome of congressional elections" to its asset options.
