Role
Who you are
- Depending on your level of experience, your responsibilities and scope of role will range. We don’t care much about fancy titles, but rather about real personal and professional development, as laid out in our learning framework. Let’s figure together out how you can contribute to our team
- Deep, progressive work experience moving from a senior software developer to a high-impact architectural role (Enterprise, Principal, or Chief Architect) in a dynamic, scaled environment
- Possess an expert understanding of modern enterprise technology landscapes and are highly comfortable governing our overall Tech Stack: AWS, Docker, Microservices, Golang, Java, Python, React.js, MySQL, Postgres, Redis, Concourse, GitHub, Prometheus. This extends to AI infrastructure
- Have profound, enterprise-scale experience with AWS services. Understand how to design multi-account organizational structures, global network architectures, and complex application layers. Deeply familiar with cloud governance and security tools
- Have comprehensive experience spanning Backend/APIs, Frontend/JS, System Design, and DevOps. Understand how these domains interact at a macroeconomic scale
- Communicate flawlessly in written and verbal English
- Have a deep understanding of agile and lean processes at an enterprise scale. Embrace end-to-end ownership and prefer to prove your ideas by measuring their impact, accepting that failure and rapid iteration are vital parts of innovation
- Maintain a clear-eyed, pragmatic view of AI capabilities - able to cut through hype, identify where AI genuinely accelerates outcomes
- Possess a strong ability to decode complex technical matters for non-technical executive audiences, while also being able to dive deep into the weeds with engineers
- Collaborative, easy to work with, and actively contribute to a positive, blameless company culture
- While job ads usually paint an ideal picture of a candidate, studies show that most applicants meet an average of 60% of the criteria. Unfortunately, many promising candidates tend to apply only if they meet all the criteria. So if you think you have what it takes, but don't necessarily meet every single item in the job description, please contact us anyway. We'd love to talk with you and find out if you might be a good fit for us
What the job involves
- Ensure that enterprise product strategy and architecture strategy match, reinforce each other, and drive business value. This includes shaping the enterprise's AI adoption strategy - identifying where AI creates measurable leverage. Strike the right balance between long-term elegance, enterprise scalability, and short-term pragmatism
- Provide authoritative architectural and technical guidance to senior stakeholders and the broader Tech area. Define and enforce enterprise-wide engineering standards, best practices, and architectural guardrails
- Lead the design of complex, multi-domain systems. Actively participate in high-stakes architectural discussions, utilizing prototypes and proofs-of-concept to validate enterprise-level solutions before widespread rollout
- Drive the department's overarching technical roadmap. Evaluate the current tech portfolio, manage technical debt at an organizational level, and guide "build vs. buy" decisions
- Act as a multiplier for technical talent. Help senior engineers and technical leads grow in their craft, fostering a culture of cross-team collaboration and architectural excellence
Our take
Many obstacles in place prevent companies from offering their own financial services. Complex and high-cost processes mean that companies find it difficult to build their own banking systems or even apply for a banking license. This can stunt development as it reduces a company's growth and expansion options.
Solaris offers a Banking-as-a-Service platform that allows companies to seamlessly integrate financial services within their existing operations, removing traditional hurdles that companies would have to face. The company differs from the competition through the use of an API for optimal integration. It also holds a full German banking license, granting it an efficient position to deal with any red tape and complex processes, taking this strain away from companies.
Through moves such as its acquisition of MER, as well as many other collaborations, Solaris has paved the way for increased operations across Europe to now offer significant market coverage. In the long run, the company aims to be the core banking service across Europe and a foundational platform through which all companies integrate financial services into their ecosystem.
