Role
Who you are
- The ideal candidate has a passion for empowering software teams to build, test, and ship their software confidently
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years experience as a software engineer in a team environment
- Strong programming experience in C++, Python and/or Rust
- Experience in developing and testing embedded hardware/software systems
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Desirable
- Continuous Integration systems, especially Github Actions
- Bazel or similar polyglot build systems
- Packaging and running software using Docker
- Orchestrating software deployments in the cloud with Kubernetes
- Development in Rust and Julia
What the job involves
- Muon Seeks a Software Engineer to join our Platform Software team
- The Platform Software team builds the foundations that enable Muon’s software teams to build world-class systems
- This role will be collaborating closely with our Flight Software, FPGA, Simulation, and Testbed teams to expand our continuous testing and release of software to our constellations of satellites
- Develop Hardware-in-the-Loop and Software-in-the-Loop systems
- Collaborate with our embedded software and FPGA teams to achieve Continuous Delivery to our satellites
- Enable testing of integrated software systems at scale
- Contribute to MuSim, Muon’s simulation platform
- Build delightful tooling for developers
Our take
Developing and operating satellites represents a significant challenge. Many organizations need accurate, space-based data but lack the resources or expertise to build their own spacecraft or manage the necessary ground systems and data processing.
To tackle this issue, Muon Space provides a service called Muon Halo. This allows customers to access satellite data without having to handle the technical details of satellite construction or operation. Muon offers end-to-end solutions, including building and launching satellites, managing operations, and processing collected data.
Muon has contracts with major customers like the US Air Force and US Space Force, and it is set to launch ten satellites between 2025 and 2026. With financial backing, the company is ready to expand its services and meet the growing demand for space-based solutions.
