We're rebuilding the energy transaction system, making it transparent and fair. tem exists to put power back in the hands of people. Today’s wholesale energy market is stacked in favour of the few. It's a product of an age of oil and gas, riddled with markups and middlemen. We’re changing that. Our product, RED™, built on a proprietary pricing engine that bypasses the wholesale market, enables businesses to buy the energy produced by renewable generators directly.

Who you are

You have startup experience and excel in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
You are skilled at identifying and overcoming obstacles independently.
You have 2-3 years of experience with a strong background in Python.
You have experience developing dynamic, user-friendly front-end applications.
You have proven experience with AWS Cloud, including services like API GW, Lambda and other serverless technologies.
You are familiar with relational and schemaless databases like PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.

Desirable

An energy background is a plus but not essential.
Professional experience with a modern js framework.

What the job involves

Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to create innovative solutions that delight our end users.
Take ownership of tasks to optimise and extend our in-house platform, improving performance and efficiency for internal teams.
Refine and enhance existing services and internal frameworks to accelerate feature delivery.
Develop reliable and scalable microservices using serverless technologies.
Contribute to engineering discussions, uphold coding standards, share knowledge and promote continuous improvement.

Non-technical interview with a Hiring Manager.
2 part technical interview featuring a Q&A session on practices and technologies and a code walk session featuring a slice or our codebase.
A cultural fit and values call with Product and UX teams.

Our take

tem is a next-gen energy transactions company that changes the way renewable energy is bought, sold and powered. Rebalancing the playing field away from "Big Energy", tem creates affordable, traceable and smart energy transaction management tools.

The company provides businesses and consumers with access to the same financial benefits as Big Energy companies by distributing its own purchased energy to customers. Once they’re signed up, customers are matched with a suitable generator, and the tem platform helps execute contracts, take payments, and manage invoicing.

This is a truly disruptive concept, and is proving to be a successful one. tem currently processes over £50 million in direct transactions and saves millions for over 1000 UK businesses wanting to switch from traditional utilities tied to the wholesale market. Whilst UK consumers are notoriously hesitant to switch providers, recent soaring energy prices is luring many into giving it a go.
