Role
Who you are
- Proven track record of corporate strategy and program management experience at a high-growth startup or MBB consultancy, plus successful completion of an MBA or equivalently challenging coursework
- Conversant in core cybersecurity and IT concepts and topics at a level sufficient to engage credibly with CISO staff and leaders across the business
- Level 999 Wizard skills in Claude, Google Workspace, dashboards, etc
- Genuine optimism and the power to inspire greatness in others
- An irrational dissatisfaction with mediocre work and the confidence to call it out when you see it
- Strong executive presence and comfort communicating with both technical and leadership audiences
- If your experience is close but doesn’t fulfill all requirements, please apply. We’re building the best team in technology and are focused on hiring “Chainguardians” with unique backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences
What the job involves
- Assist the CISO and their direct reports in developing and executing an organizational strategy coordinated across the Security & Technology portfolio to deliver outsized value to the Chainguard enterprise
- Run Security & Technology planning and operating cadence (QBRs, OKR cycles, etc.)
- Assist in preparing executive materials: board decks, all-hands narratives, etc
- Identify organizational bottlenecks and drive cross-functional resolution before they escalate
- Act as a trusted proxy: can represent the CISO and their staff in internal meetings and make decisions within scope
- Serve as a force multiplier for the CISO at operational level: drive follow-through and hold the organization accountable to commitments
- Work with Security & Technology leaders and TPMs staff to drive cross-functional programs (product/feature launches, new capabilities, certification milestones, etc.)
- Manage dependencies between teams that no single team owns
- Design and improve Security & Technology’s communications mechanisms: coach staff on storytelling, and work with internal and external communications leaders to ensure a consistent, coherent flow of information to various levels of the business
- Build and maintain the operating system for how decisions get made, and how work gets tracked and prioritized
- Partner with the CISO’s EBP and HR/People on headcount planning and FP&A for budget planning
Our take
Developers rely on open source code and apps in their day to day work, but when the provenance of the code is unknown this creates potential weaknesses that cybercriminals can exploit. Chainguard exists to build security into the coding supply chain by making it possible for companies to enforce security policies based on auditable signatures baked into the code.
In the wake of huge cyber attacks, software supply chain security has been an area of major focus. However, most of this has surrounded the scanning and detection of threats. Chainguard's approach comes from the other end of the process, focusing on building security into the software itself.
Built by former engineers who are aware of developer workloads, Chainguard is designed to be easily installed and integrated into existing automation systems. The company has secured substantial funding, the latest of which will support more aggressive product and R&D spending as it looks to further boost sales.
