Who you are
- You have a relevant Master's degree
- You have 6 to 8 years of experience with HR, preferably as HR Lead, or strategy/organizational consultant
- Your experience in a start-up/scale-up environment is a pre
- You are ready to lead a team, and have a passion for technology and people
- You know how to manage projects, and thrive in an operational environment
- You understand Human Resource disciplines and your knowledge in employment law is a pre
- You speak fluent English and Dutch
What the job involves
- If you’re an experienced HR Lead or Business Partner with a passion for operations, we’re offering you a great opportunity: Come join our Dutch People (HR) Operations team and make a real difference
- Picnics central team is build up out of 1000 talented individuals spread across three main locations: Amsterdam, Paris and Düsseldorf
- The People Operations team consists of 15 HR Business Partners and 20 people admins that take full responsibility for all HR processes and personal development & organizational challenges of everyone working in our operations (fulfilment, last mile and customer service)
- Currently, Picnic’s Dutch operations counts 10 thousand active employees
- As the People Operations Team lead for the Netherlands, you’ll hold a key position ensuring an employee-centric and smooth HR operations
- You'll develop the team of HR BP's and Admins, optimize processes, and ensure compliance
- You'll shape and improve the employee journey across different operational teams, and design development tracks for our talent
- Your leadership skills, and understanding of people and HR, will make a real impact on our business
- Guide, develop and support the team of HR BPs by conducting check-ins and bi-annual reviews
- Align with internal stakeholders like the international analyst team, and people director, and manage external stakeholders like external payroll partners, occupational health service, or labour inspection
- Initiate and drive people-related initiatives, and implement proactive solutions
- Provide insightful data to guide decision-making, and ensure that the organization is structured to achieve business objectives
- Improve employee and team lead journeys (including staffing, onboarding, learning & development, and rotation processes)
- Manage talent to ensure the right people are in the right roles
- Set-up HR shared service center

Thanks to its ‘own the supply chain’ model and daily delivery routes (as opposed to on-demand delivery), the company is able to run a low-cost business targeted at the mass market, rather than premium buyers.
One of the major factors in the company’s rampant growth since 2015 is its capacity for free delivery, enabled by these daily delivery routes. The company's fleet has grown from 4 vans to more than 1,000 electric vehicles, cutting down on carbon emissions as it serves its hundreds of thousands of users.
The company's impressive funding - which has been heavily backed by the likes of The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the sum of 1.4 billion euros in funding - has enabled Picnic to expand beyond The Netherlands into Germany, France, and further afield. Picnic is well set to see continued growth and expansion as it further disrupts the grocery delivery market.
