Role
Who you are
- Proven Expertise: 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on firmware in C/C++ and client or test tooling in Python or NodeJS
- Advanced Technical Skills: Proficiency in developing for compute-constrained and low-memory environments. Skilled in creating peripheral drivers and communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, USB), and knowledgeable in DMA
- Shipping at Scale: Have launched and maintained large fleets of devices, with experience in monitoring telemetry, and OTA firmware updates
- Hardware Acumen: Ability to read and interpret data sheets and schematics for hardware bring-up and debugging. Familiarity with logic analyzers and oscilloscopes
- Adaptive Problem Solver: A fast-paced and iterative approach to tackling complex problems
Desirable
- Proficient with bare metal systems, low level task management, and environments without traditional RTOS
- Expertise in wireless communication standards (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi)
- Expertise in automated testing and observability
- Deep understanding of embedded security practices

- Join our team as a Sr Firmware Engineer to help us bring current and next generations of Pod hardware to life
- You'll be a part of a small team designing and implementing solutions with high levels of autonomy to bring our members better sleep
- Your work will go directly to our fleet of existing Pods with low friction and direct impact to the business

Eight Sleep makes “smart” mattresses and mattress covers (for regular mattresses) that use machine learning and other artificial intelligence-based algorithms to improve your sleep both by changing temperature and monitoring other physical parameters to provide an overall picture of your health.
The company is focused on two levers for growth; building out more technology through additional products and acquisitions, and expanding internationally. It is off to a good start with both, and continuous investment supports Eight Sleep's ambitions moving forwards.
