What the job involves
- At Cloudflare, we are on a mission to help build a better Internet
- Today the company runs one of the world’s largest networks that powers millions of websites and other Internet properties for customers ranging from individual bloggers to SMBs to Fortune 500 companies
- Cloudflare protects and accelerates any Internet application online without adding hardware, installing software, or changing a line of code
- Internet properties powered by Cloudflare all have web traffic routed through its intelligent global network, which gets smarter with every request
- As a result, they see significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks
- Cloudflare was named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top Company Cultures list and ranked among the World’s Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company
- At Cloudflare, we’re not looking for people who wait for a polished roadmap; we’re looking for the builders who see the cracks in the Internet that everyone else has simply learned to live with
- We value candidates who have the instinct to spot a "normalized" problem and the AI-native curiosity to create a solution using the latest tools
- Our culture is built on iteration, leveraging AI to ship faster today to make it better tomorrow, while ensuring that every improvement, no matter how small, is shared across the team to lift everyone up
- If you’re the type of person who values curiosity over bureaucracy, and that AI is a partner in solving tough problems to keep the Internet moving forward, you’ll fit right in
- Cloudflare is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated Senior Technical Program Manager to lead the company’s strategic Governance, Risk, and Compliance program, initially focused on the Department of Defense Impact Level 4 (IL4) initiative
- As a Technical Program Manager focused on Governance, Risk, and Compliance, you will define, align, and drive complex security and compliance programs that reduce risk and enable Cloudflare’s regulated business. You will manage stakeholder expectations, proactively identify risks and dependencies, and ensure the delivery of predictable, high-impact outcomes
- Partner with the Governance, Risk, and Compliance team as its dedicated Technical Program Manager
- Lead the integrated IL4 roadmap, milestones, dependencies, and execution cadence
- Connect with stakeholders through expert communication and diplomacy to maintain alignment and encourage collaboration
- Establish and maintain a program operating cadence: roadmap, governance forums, decision log, risk/issue register, communications plan, and executive reporting
- Build automations and AI agents to handle routine program administration at scale
- Utilize AI platforms to consolidate diverse project streams into unified roadmaps, generating initial metrics, status updates, and executive reporting dashboards
- Navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities by identifying tradeoffs early, applying risk-based judgment, and balancing long-term compliance objectives with urgent security needs
Our take
Cloudflare is a multi-service global network that provides web security and infrastructure, DDoS mitigation services, and a content delivery network. Founded in 2009, Cloudflare has risen to become an industry giant, with over 25 million global internet properties on its network.
Cloudflare has been responsible for a number of admirable initiatives, offering free web protection to human rights groups, journalists, artists, and US election websites. This goes some way to counteracting the flak Cloudflare has received in some circles for the controversial groups and users who use its services. This chequered history, however, has not affected its over 80% market share in the content delivery network field.
This is perhaps in part because it has proven sharp at staying abreast of the rapidly morphing tech and digital space and customer demands. For example, Cloudflare is shifting to 100% renewable energy usage to create a zero-emissions internet, and in 2020 released a feature that would help users navigate data privacy regulations by selecting where their data is stored.
And impressive third-quarter 2025 results show strong momentum, with revenue rising to $562 million from $430 million a year earlier. The company also raised its full-year guidance, underscoring confidence in continued growth. As demand for secure, cloud-based infrastructure keeps growing, Cloudflare's expanding platform and improving efficiency leave it well positioned to capture further gains in a rapidly growing market.
