Role
Who you are
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master's in a quantitative field such as Economics, Statistics, Applied Math, Engineering, Computer Science, or Natural Sciences. Must graduate before December 2027
- This internship will take place from January 25 - April 16 and you will need to be able to work out of our SF office during this time
- Previous research or internship experience
- Proficient in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
- Working towards proficiency in one or more scripting languages such as Python or R
- You find large challenges exciting and enjoy discovering problems as much as solving them
- You are able to problem-solve and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Thoughtful problem-solving: For you, problem-solving starts with a clear and accurate understanding of the context. You can decompose tricky problems and work towards a clean solution, by yourself or with teammates. You're comfortable asking for help when you get stuck

- Not ideological about technology: To you, technologies and programming languages are about tradeoffs. You may be opinionated, but you're not ideological and can learn new technologies as you go

What the job involves
- This internship will take place from January 25 - April 16 and you will need to be able to work out of our SF office during this time
- Conduct data analyses to gain insights about Notion and use these insights to uncover opportunities for improvements in our product and business
- Communicate these insights with actionable recommendations to cross-functional teams (insights are useful, impact is even better!)
- Work with cross-functional partners across the product and business to learn about their functions and use data to advance their respective areas
- Create metrics and build dashboards to monitor the growth and health of Notion
- Communicate insights and recommendations effectively to leadership and have an impact on strategic decision-making
Our take
Managing busy workflows using fragmented systems can be a headache for both individuals and businesses. Notion aims to combat this problem by enabling users to work from one central hub, customizing their workflows to suit their exact needs. This includes managing files, scheduling tasks, saving documents, writing to-do lists, and setting reminders.
The company counts enterprise companies such as McDonald’s, The Wall Street Journal, Verizon, Samsung, and IBM as its customers. In spite of economic uncertainty, Notion reached a $2B valuation in 2020, helped by record signups as more people were forced to work from home. Its value has since risen to over 5 times this value, an impressive reflection of its success.
Notion has also made several strategic acquisitions that, coupled with its enormous market value and enviable customer list, have positioned it well to continue dominating the market. However, with a growing wave of competitors emerging, including offerings like Microsoft Loop, Notion will need to keep innovating and evolving to maintain its edge and stay ahead in an increasingly crowded market.
