What the job involves
- The Consumer Insights Data Analyst will serve as the objective source of truth on business and category performance
- The ideal candidate is a curious, strategic thinker, detail oriented and a collaborative business partner who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- This role owns data quality, builds the dashboards and visualizations the business runs on, and applies advanced analytics to explain performance and uncover growth opportunities, partnering cross-functionally to democratize data-driven decision making
- This role is hybrid and open to either being located in Los Angeles, CA or Minneapolis, MN
- The Data Analyst is responsible for duties including but not limited to the following:
- Own the source of truth: Serve as the objective, single source of truth on business performance across syndicated data sources (e.g. Circana, Stackline) and retailer POS portals. Harmonize these sources into one consistent view of consumption, share, distribution, pricing, and promotion
- Ensure data quality and governance: Maintain data pipelines, product and retailer hierarchies, and common KPI definitions. Establish validation checks, cross-source reconciliation, and documentation to ensure data quality and accuracy
- Report on the state of the business: Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reporting by brand, category, channel, and retailer. Proactively flag trends, risks, and opportunities, and explain the drivers behind the results
- Build dashboards and visualizations: Design, develop, and maintain intuitive, automated dashboards. Continuously improve usability, adoption, and refresh reliability
- Apply advanced analytics: Lead deep-dive analyses such as sales driver decomposition, price and promotion effectiveness, distribution and velocity, assortment and share of shelf, forecasting, and incrementality. Translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations
- Democratize data: Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g. Brand, Finance, Sales, etc.) to understand business questions and key success metrics. Train and enable stakeholders to find and use data independently, building data literacy and a culture of evidence-based decision making

- Manage data partners: Serve as the primary point of contact for data vendors (e.g. Circana) managing deliverables, database builds, and issue resolution
Our take
The Honest Company was founded in 2012 by Jessica Alba with the simple idea to create everyday products that are safer, gentler, and more transparent about what goes into them. The brand built its reputation on "clean" personal care - things like baby products, skincare, and household items made without any of the harsh chemicals. Because of this approach, it quickly gained popularity with families looking for a trusted, easy-to-understand product.
Over time, Honest has grown into a well-known name in baby and personal care, with products designed for both kids and adults. Its lotions, shampoos and wipes are especially popular for being mild and easy on sensitive skin. In a fun and unexpected moment, even astronauts have taken notice, during the Artemis II mission, astronaut Christina Koch mentioned missing Honest's lotion while in space, showing just how widely love the brand has become.
The company has been going through a bit of a reset though, deciding to step back from selling directly to customers online, choosing instead to focus on retail partnerships and wholesale. This shift is part of a larger plan to cut costs and simplify the business after slower growth. While it means less direct control over how customer shop the brand, it should help Honest become more profitable and focused, leaning into what it does best while relying on big retail partners to drive scale in the future.
