Role
Who you are
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in database technologies, including experience in building and deploying databases. Familiarity with distributed systems (Hadoop, Spark, Presto), orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes), and Linux/Networking/Storage is essential
- Hands-On Experience: Implementing and troubleshooting technical solutions, including the ability to conduct in-depth technical evaluations in complex, multi-technology environments
- Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in distributed systems and deliver effective solutions
- Technical Demos and Presentations: Expertise in designing and delivering compelling technical demos, tailored to meet the specific needs of prospective customers
- Executive Communication: Demonstrated ability to lead technical presentations and discussions with executives, effectively translating complex technical concepts into business value propositions that resonate with senior leadership
- Client Relationship Management: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at all levels, ensuring alignment with customer needs and driving long-term success
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in Java and Python, with a solid understanding of data pipelining and data analytics
- Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. An advanced degree is a plus
- Experience: 5+ years of experience as a hands-on solutions engineer, solutions architect, professional services engineer, or technical account manager with a proven track record in supporting all phases of the technical sales cycle. We will certainly consider candidates below this threshold that present high potential and recognize seniority for those much higher than 5 years of experience
What the job involves
- As a Solutions Engineer at Alluxio, you will play a pivotal role in driving the technical success of our engagements with enterprise customers. Reporting to the Solutions Engineering Manager, you will work closely with sales teams, helping to understand customer requirements, design solutions, and ensure successful implementation of Alluxio’s products. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, customer-facing skills, and the ability to navigate complex data environments
- Technical Sales Ownership: Lead the technical sales process for numerous customers day to day, from introductory meetings through proof of concept and all the way to close
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Solutions Engineering Manager and internal teams to execute pilot projects and POCs with customers and prospects
- Hands On: Building, owning, driving PoC processes in multi-technology environments and have the ability to influence and get buying decisions on new technology solutions
- Solution Design: Understand customer requirements and design tailored solutions that leverage Alluxio’s capabilities to meet their specific needs
- Customer Training: Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate customers on Alluxio's business value and best practices for using Alluxio’s products
- Technical Pre-Sales: Partner with sales teams to provide technical expertise during the pre-sales process, including conducting product demonstrations and presentations
- Feedback Loop: Gather customer feedback and collaborate with product management and engineering teams to drive product improvements and innovation
- Domain Expert: Stay current with industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to effectively position Alluxio’s solutions
- Technical Documentation: Documenting best practices and lessons learned to create a repeatable, scalable Solutions Engineering organization. (Including discovery calls, PoC Scoping, Business Value Assessment, Business Value *Realization as well as driving Mutual Success plans with prospects.)
