Who you are

- 3+ years of experience working as a Data or Analytics Engineer on data-intensive applications
- Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with dbt for data modeling and transformation
- Proven track record of working with a modern cloud data warehouse like Databricks, Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery
- Experience with Apache Airflow or a comparable orchestration tool
- Python proficiency, with a track record of writing clean, maintainable code
- Experience with Looker or a comparable BI/semantic-layer tool
- Experience with cross-functional/cross-team collaboration, with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Capacity to thrive in a scale-up environment, pragmatic attitude, ability to work independently, collaborate effectively with others, and take ownership of your work
- Living in the Netherlands/EU
Desirable
- Experience with data access control and masking patterns in dbt
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and regulatory compliance considerations (e.g., GDPR, SOX, PCI DSS) as they apply to data platforms and data warehouses
- Curiosity about data observability and lineage tooling
What the job involves
- The Analytics Engineering Team is the critical link between Data and Business teams. You'll work closely with our Data Engineers and Data Analysts, and help guide the company's approach to data governance as it matures
- As an Analytics Engineer, you will be the guardian of our data ecosystem, ensuring that our data is not only available but is high-quality, performant, and strictly governed
- Design, build, and maintain dbt models powering our behavioral analytics and event-tracking pipeline, one of the largest and most actively used parts of our data platform, processing high-volume clickstream data daily
- Data Curation & Modeling, own and improve analytical data modeling practices across projects
- Help evolve our data governance framework by improving our Governance projects, ranging from data compliance to access control
- Monitor and optimize the performance of our dbt pipelines and Looker infrastructure, proactively identifying automation and cost-efficiency opportunities
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and stakeholders across teams to keep our modeling standards consistent and well understood
- Review code within our analytics projects to help the team maintain best practices as we grow
- Contribute to improving data infrastructure, from pipeline health to Looker usage
- Get to the bottom of data issues, determine root causes and build solutions that resolve them permanently, not just patch symptoms
- AI adoption, contribute to initiatives for unlocking AI in our analytical and reporting processes (DWH/BI Tooling)
- Design and implement data models with SQL in DBT
- Build and explore dashboards in Looker to allow others at the company to ask the right data questions
- Deep dive into large business datasets to uncover valuable insights that can be turned into actionable hypotheses
- Work with Product Managers, Developers, Marketeers, and Commercial Specialists to determine and measure the right metrics in their respective domains
- Keep a close eye on the ever-changing data challenges at Tiqets, and collaborate closely with Strategic Analysts, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and other Data Analysts on the team to solve them
- Educate and empower others at the company to be more self-reliant for their data needs
- Mentor others in the team with technical guidance
- Collaborate on the architectural evolution of the Tiqets data model and reporting framework
Our take
Museums and attractions might have had people tolerating lengthy ticket-booth queues in the past, but the rising tide of digital transformation has today’s visitors expecting more. With many museums in particular operating on precarious funding models, they can’t afford to lose visitors, so Tiqet’s simple digital ticketing platform should offer something of a lifeline.
Tiqet’s easy browse-and-buy selection of e-tickets to top locations across the globe has proven especially useful - both for facilitating greater footfall, and for converting visitors to repeat customers with data gathering and analytics. It is this latter point that may prove especially useful: with an increasing proportion of museums' and attractions' revenue coming from gift shops and cafés, rather than ticket sales themselves, they are increasingly pivoting towards a consumer model. Consequently, they will need to keep a tighter finger on the pulse of consumer demand.
What bodes especially well for Tiqet has been an impressive funding round led by travel giant Airbnb, which offered guidance and collaboration to the startup. The company has led digital transformation in a key aspect of the tourism industry, and has made several advantageous partnerships with companies such as Klook and RUNNR.ai. At the end of 2025, it was announced that Expedia would acquire Tiqets, allowing the latter to benefit from the global travel group's wide-reaching network of partners.
