Company mission
To make the world where the lives of our global community are free, equal, and just.
Role
Who you are
- Several years of hands-on product management experience, including ownership of complex consumer products from strategy through launch and iteration
- A record of defining and delivering multi-quarter product strategies that improved activation, engagement, retention, or another meaningful user outcome
- Strong analytical judgment, including experience using product data, experimentation, and behavioral insights to identify opportunities and make decisions
- Deep user orientation and strong research instincts, with the ability to connect qualitative insight and quantitative evidence
- Experience leading cross-functional work with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Marketing, and other partners in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to operate independently, create structure from ambiguity, and influence senior stakeholders without relying on formal authority
- Clear written and verbal communication and strong product judgment, including the ability to make tradeoffs and explain what matters, what does not, and why
- Have direct growth product experience across activation, retention, reactivation, lifecycle, or churn prevention
- Have built products for consumer social, dating, community, or other high-engagement mobile experiences
- Bring experience with lifecycle marketing, App Store optimization, or marketing technology platforms such as Braze or AppsFlyer
- Enjoy building new functions and operating models, not only optimizing mature systems
- Are energized by Grindr’s mission and curious about the distinct needs and behaviors of our global community
- Are AI-native or rapidly becoming so - you actively use AI tools in your workflow and are always looking for new ways to leverage them
What the job involves
- As Staff Product Manager, Growth, you’ll partner with our Head of Growth to build Grindr’s user growth function and help more people find lasting value in the product. You’ll own key product areas across the user lifecycle, using customer insights and data to improve acquisition, activation, reactivation, and retention
- At Grindr, we operate in Grindr Mode. Moderately hardcore day to day, truly hardcore when it counts. It's about doing great work without burning out. Outcomes over outputs. Smart, driven people who raise your bar, with room to live full lives
- Help build Grindr’s growth product function from the ground up, defining how we identify, prioritize, and deliver on opportunities across the user lifecycle
- Develop and drive a multi-quarter roadmap spanning user acquisition, activation, retention, reactivation, and churn prevention
- Improve the new user experience from App Store discovery through onboarding and the first week on Grindr
- Build better re-onboarding experiences for returning users and create new ways for less active users to find value and connection
- Partner with Data Science to deepen our understanding of DAU and MAU, identify where users enter, drop off, return, and build lasting engagement, and translate those insights into product priorities
- Lead discovery, experimentation, launch, and iteration across high-impact growth initiatives, balancing quantitative signals with deep user understanding
- Work with Marketing on App Store optimization and lifecycle capabilities, including platforms such as Braze and AppsFlyer, while partnering with international teams on global growth opportunities
- Create clarity across ambiguous problem spaces, align senior stakeholders around priorities and tradeoffs, and hold the work accountable to measurable outcomes
Our take
Grindr stands out as one of the foremost dating platforms, recognized for its role in fostering connections within the LGBT+ community. Initially conceived as a dating app tailored to gay men - an innovative concept at its inception - the company has evolved to embrace a broader spectrum of identities, proudly positioning itself as "the world's largest social networking app for gay, bi, trans, and queer people".
Offering a complimentary version alongside premium subscription tiers like "Grindr Xtra" and "Grindr Unlimited", Grindr follows the familiar model of many social and dating applications, Despite facing competition from platforms such as Jack'd and Scruff, Grindr maintains its prominence within the market.
In the dynamic landscape of digital connections, Grindr's evolution from a niche dating service to a comprehensive LGBT+ networking hub underscores its enduring relevance. As it navigates fierce competition, Grinder remains a space for individuals to forge meaningful connections and cultivate community, all while iterating on its product - for example with its newest AI-powered premium features.
