Who you are
- At Talos, we value engineers who enjoy solving complex problems, working in a fast-paced environment, and learning from experienced teammates
- Prior experience in finance or crypto is a plus but not required—we’re more interested in your ability to write great code, think critically, and work collaboratively
- 3-5 years of software engineering experience in Java, C++, C#, Python, or Go
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience working with complex backend systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
- Interest in financial technology—experience in crypto or traditional markets is a plus
- Local to NYC HQ
What the job involves
- Talos operates at the intersection of crypto and capital markets, building high-performance systems to support the rapidly evolving digital asset space
- As a Software Engineer at Talos, you’ll collaborate with our team to develop the backend trading and settlement platform that powers institutional crypto trading
- You'll have the opportunity to work on key areas such as order routing, market data connectivity, position management, and risk systems
- We’re looking for engineers eager to take ownership of their work and contribute to the entire development lifecycle—from design and implementation to testing and deployment
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services that support crypto trading and settlement
- Optimize system performance, scalability, and security
- Collaborate with product and client teams to build solutions that support the full trade lifecycle
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, transparency, and continuous learning
Our take
So far, the increasing institutional interest in the value of crypto-assets has been stymied by a lack of scaled, efficient, and secure infrastructure that these institutions could use for trade. Talos addresses the problem of digital asset trading between institutions, helping them to securely sidestep these obstacles into a fresh market with potentially huge returns.
The company provides a range of end-to-end, highly configurable tools to populate and facilitate the institutional crypto-asset market from just one platform. Talos' approach is helping to lower the bar for wide-ranging adoption of cryptocurrency, supporting the full lifespan of digital assets trading. That said, because they’re developing the market of an entirely new asset-class, progress is accelerated and competition may have a chance to overtake.
Promising for Talos was the interest of prominent investors like PayPal and Fidelity during their Series A funding round, with the funds being used to create an institutional-grade service to help them both shape and spearhead this developing market. More recently, the company has made a number of significant partnerships, and also acquired D3X Systems, the integration of which will allow its clients to design, validate, implement and manage highly customized portfolios.
