Role
Who you are
- We're looking for empathetic and motivated team players who are passionate about technology, growth, ownership, and mentoring others
- Proven track record as a Staff Engineer or Technical Lead with strong leadership and problem-solving skills
- Expertise in Java/Kotlin and ideally Go
- Knowledge of architecture and design patterns (e.g. event-driven architecture, distributed services, domain-driven design)
- Ideally, you have worked with MongoDB, Terraform, Docker before, next to that, you are passionate for Test Driven Development
- Previous experience working alongside Product and Design Leaders to deliver customer value in an Agile environment
- Ability to drive technical direction, including making decisions on architectural trade-offs and evaluating the long-term impact of technical choices
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and a commitment to improving operational efficiency
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to various stakeholders, both technical and non-technical

What the job involves
- Hey there! We're on the lookout for a talented Staff Engineer to join our Staffbase team and help us build an awesome product that enables our customers to inform, engage and inspire their employees
- As a Staff Engineer, you’ll play a key role in driving technical excellence and strategy, while also contributing with your advanced Developer skills
- Lead technical strategy and architecture for our Mission Control offering which provides the hub of our product portfolio, helping communicators plan and execute strategic communications
- Mentor and guide engineers, providing leadership, feedback, and fostering growth through code reviews and technical discussions
- Design scalable and robust systems, driving long-term solutions and infrastructure planning to accommodate future growth
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high quality SaaS product that is reliable, easy to use and delights our customers
- Continuously improve and refine our development processes, CI/CD pipeline, and automation practices
- Take ownership of major technical decisions, proactively addressing system bottlenecks and ensuring product quality
- Contribute to and maintain technical roadmaps with engineering leadership to align project priorities and business goals
- Foster a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and continuous improvement within the team. Role modeling and developing others in the craft of Product Software Engineering

Our take
Since launching in 2014, Staffbase has grown into a major name in the internal communications niche. Its platform is used by the likes of Samsung, ALDI, DHL, and Domino’s to create branded, mobile-first communication and information sharing tools which can access a company’s intranet from anywhere.
Staffbase has managed to set itself apart to some extent from the range of other internal communication apps like Slack and Teams by focusing on building a product tailored towards dedicated internal communication teams, rather than taking a more general approach.
This is proving to be a good decision as, with the shift to remote and hybrid working, the last few years have seen Staffbase gather serious momentum. A 2021 merger with Canadian competitor Banantang has been followed up by a series of major funding rounds and a rise to unicorn status. As well as this, it’s been expanding its own product portfolio through a number of strategic acquisitions as it looks to stay ahead of the competition.
