Role
Who you are
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field, with a strong track record of leading data-driven projects
- Expert proficiency in Python and SQL, with significant experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence
- Deep understanding of data exploration, transformation, and visualization techniques to uncover insights and drive decision-making
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms and tools for managing and analyzing large varied datasets
- Strong expertise in designing and maintaining data pipelines and reporting with an ability to drive architectural decisions for complex data ecosystems
- Proven ability to solve complex analytical problems, proactively identify data quality issues, and implement long-term sustainable solutions in fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Skilled at writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code, adhering to best practices such as version control, reproducibility, and data governance
- Excellent collaboration skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and working closely with stakeholders including machine learning engineers, product managers, and business leaders to align data initiatives with strategic goals
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, making high-level decisions on data strategy, reporting, and analytics direction
- Please note, ExTrac provides services to a number of different government clients, some of which specify nationality criteria for individuals seeking Security Clearance (SC). Given this, we can only consider applications from individuals who hold a passport from the UK, another NATO member states, Australia or New Zealand
What the job involves
- Own and lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable analytics and reporting. Make key technical decisions to ensure alignment with long-term business objectives and data strategy
- Collaborate closely with leadership, engineering managers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to define data strategies and ensure alignment of analytics initiatives with broader organisational goals
- Take full ownership of troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving complex data-related issues that span multiple systems and teams. Lead efforts to improve data accuracy, reporting reliability, and machine learning model performance
- Set and enforce high standards by leading code reviews, implementing best practices, and driving a culture of rigorous validation, reporting, and monitoring
- Provide thought leadership throughout all phases of the data lifecycle, from data exploration and visualization to reporting automation and continuous improvement, driving key initiatives to completion
