What the job involves
- We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to play a critical role in designing and putting into production our next generation of beverage dispensing machines. Working with stakeholders, you will take projects from initial scoping to proposing solutions that satisfy the product requirements. You will communicate updates to the team while identifying and highlighting key challenges along the way. We are seeking a candidate who enjoys learning new skills, collaborates across disciplines, and is committed to driving design challenges to completion
- Design, analyze, prototype, and test hardware systems that deliver compelling beverages without the waste of the traditional supply chain
- Translate product requirements into complete technical solutions that satisfy challenging business, design, and schedule requirements
- Work closely with industrial designers, electrical, firmware, software, and mechanical engineers to develop a refined product
- Lead the development of systems or subsystems and integrate them into a single delivered product
- Work with suppliers and subject matter experts to design manufacturable, cost-effective components and assemblies
- Develop and execute tests to prove performance, reduce quality risk, and build product reliability
- Provide leadership and mentorship in your areas of specialization
- Participate in the design review process
- Drive work independently while managing ambiguity, and be proactive in managing and communicating risk
Our take
Americans buy billions of water bottles per year, the manufacture of which uses millions of barrels of crude oil. This alone causes significant damage to the environment, before even considering the carbon impact of delivery or the plastic waste produced. Bevi hopes to change this with its smart beverage-dispensing machine that only requires a tap water source to function.
Bevi’s dispensers allow users to customise their drinks, check nutrition information and track the environmental impact of their usage. With the ability to carbonate beverages as well as flavour them with natural essences, and even some caffeine and electrolytes if one wishes, Bevi has created a versatile hydration system that caters to the modern consumer on both eco-conscious and personal taste levels.
This simple and effective hydration system has become popular across industries. Over 4000 companies, including Volkswagen, Netflix and Google, make use of Bevi machines. The company, though having to fight through some self-admittedly "frightening" times, has raised significant funding that will support its rapid growth and expansion into new verticals and products.
