Company mission
To radically transform the data analyst user experience.
Role
Who you are
- 3 to 10 years in product marketing, ideally at a B2B software or developer-focused company
- Excellent writing. Clear, punchy, and specific... you can make a technical idea land in one sentence
- A real knack for positioning: you've taken a product to market and can show the before and after
- Experience building web pages and landing pages, and comfort shipping them yourself with modern tools
- A track record of sales enablement that sales teams actually used
- Genuine curiosity about technical products. You don't need to write SQL for a living, but you want to understand how the thing works
- AI fluency. You already use AI daily to do better work, and you're excited to push that further
- A bias for action. You'd rather ship a good version this week than a perfect one next quarter
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Product Marketer who lives at the intersection of words, product, and customers. You’ll take what our engineers build and turn it into stories that make developers and data teams lean in. You’ll own positioning and messaging, write the pages people actually read, and make sure our sales team walks into every conversation ready
- Write. A lot. Website copy, landing pages, launch posts, product one-pagers, emails. You care about every word and you know when to cut
- Help shape how we tell our story. Work alongside product, sales, and leadership on who we’re for, why we’re different, and how to say it in a way a data engineer won’t roll their eyes at... then keep it fresh as the product and market evolve
- Build the web and the artifacts. Ship landing pages, comparison pages, demos and interactive assets... ideally hands-on with AI tools rather than waiting in a queue for design and eng
- Arm the sales team. Create battlecards, pitch decks, objection handling, and competitive takes that AEs and Customer Engineers actually use in deals. Sit in on calls and bring what you hear back into the messaging
- Run launches. Plan and ship product launches end to end with product, engineering, DevRel and growth
- Stay close to customers and the market. Talk to users, track competitors (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery and friends), and turn what you learn into sharper stories
- Work AI-first. Use Claude and other tools to research, draft, prototype and ship. Help set the bar for how marketing at MotherDuck uses AI
Our take
In the increasingly complex landscape of data analytics, the challenges faced in managing and extracting meaningful insights from large datasets are on the rise. Conventional approaches, often involving distributed architectures and petabyte-scale data solutions, can be cumbersome, expensive, and less user-friendly for the majority of users who do not operate at such a large scale.
MotherDuck, recognizing this issue, has emerged as a solution provider with its serverless, user-friendly data analytics platform. Leveraging the power of the open-source database DuckDB, MotherDuck aims to simplify the scale-up approach to SQL analytics, offering a faster, more cost-effective alternative for the 95% of analysts who do not require petabyte-scale data solutions.
Having secured funding in 2023, the company has invested in further enhancing its platform and expanding its user base. MotherDuck continues to collaborate closely with the DuckDB team and integrate user feedback for enhancements. This means it can play a pivotal role in the evolution of serverless data analytics, while combatting common pitfalls that teams come up against as they rely more on AI systems.
