Senior Full-stack Laravel/PHP Engineer, ReelFlow

• A pragmatic, business-oriented, customer-focused engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit
• 5+ years of commercial experience in Full-stack development
• Strong expertise in Laravel, PHP8, and modern engineering practices
• Proven ReactJS (and preferably Typescript using InertiaJS) experience in production applications
• Familiarity with relational databases (we run on Postgres)
• Experience working in a fast-paced startup or SaaS environment
• Solid understanding of version control (Git), CI/CD
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills

Desirable

• You’ll be working closely with the leadership team, a close-knit group of product-minded people. We’re all using the latest and greatest technologies to move at incredible pace with a small and lean team
• You’ll develop and maintain our SaaS platform, working across the stack with a focus on Laravel and React. You’ll collaborate on new features, optimize performance, and guide best practices in an agile startup environment
• We’re a lean, dynamic team and we intend to stay this way, using recent developments and advances in software engineering practice to continue improving team efficiency
• Engineering scalable backend systems using Laravel (including modern features and best practices)
• Working with our Laravel 12, React-based InertiaJS application running on modern PHP 8 (8.3 right now, but we like to keep things up to date)
• Generalist mentality - comfortable using languages and tooling outside of PHP and Laravel, e.g. Go, Python etc with a focus on getting things done
• Proactive AI user - you’re comfortable using tools like Cursor/OpenAI etc, seeing them as more of an opportunity than a threat
• Develop responsive frontend interfaces with React and ideally InertiaJS
• Implement various interfaces (e.g. APIs), ensure data integrity, and maintain security standards
• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to refine requirements and deliver features quickly
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior developers, and maintain high-quality engineering standards
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimise performance
• Running releases - we don’t have DevOps - Deploying code, managing rollbacks, and keeping your cool when things go awry
• As an early hire, you'll have the ability to directly and significantly influence how we approach almost every part of the Engineering function, shaping the culture and the product
