Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA preferred
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including meaningful experience with revenue recognition
- Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 and experience evaluating customer contracts and revenue arrangements
- Experience with SaaS, cloud infrastructure, AI, technology, or other usage/consumption-based business models strongly preferred
- Experience working with large datasets and reconciling information across multiple systems
- Experience with NetSuite or another major ERP system preferred
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills; SQL or experience working directly with data warehouses is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment where products, systems, and processes continue to evolve
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical accounting requirements into practical guidance for non-accounting stakeholders
What the job involves
- We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Revenue Accountant to join our Accounting team
- This role will be responsible for supporting and scaling our end-to-end revenue accounting processes as the company continues to grow
- The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly in ASC 606, and is comfortable working with complex and evolving commercial arrangements, including committed contracts, consumption-based arrangements, usage-based billing, credits, discounts, and other non-standard terms
- This is a hands-on role that will partner closely with Sales, Deal Desk/Revenue Operations, Billing, Finance, Legal, and other cross-functional teams to ensure contracts are appropriately evaluated, revenue is accurately recognized, and our processes and systems can scale with the business
- Support the monthly revenue close process, including preparation of revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Perform ASC 606 contract reviews for new and existing customer arrangements and document appropriate revenue recognition conclusions
- Evaluate complex or non-standard contract terms, including usage-based pricing, committed spend, minimum commitments, credits, discounts, contract modifications, renewals, and other commercial arrangements
- Maintain and reconcile revenue schedules across revenue, accounts receivable, deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and customer credits
- Reconcile revenue recognition data to underlying billing, usage, contract, and general ledger data and investigate discrepancies
- Develop and maintain revenue accounting workbooks, rollforwards, and supporting documentation that provide clear audit trails from customer contracts and usage data through the general ledger
- Partner with Billing and Revenue Operations teams to ensure customer billing and revenue recognition are appropriately aligned while maintaining the distinction between billing and accounting requirements
- Partner with Sales, Legal, Deal Desk, and Finance on new products, pricing models, contract structures, and commercial terms to identify potential accounting implications
- Support the accounting assessment and operationalization of new products and SKUs, including determining appropriate revenue recognition treatment and ensuring required accounting data is captured
- Prepare technical accounting memos and other documentation supporting significant or complex revenue accounting conclusions
- Support external audits by preparing revenue schedules, contract samples, reconciliations, and responses to auditor inquiries
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate revenue accounting processes, controls, reconciliations, and reporting
- Partner with Systems and cross-functional teams to improve the integration and data flow among CRM, billing, usage, and ERP systems
- Help design and maintain effective internal controls over revenue recognition and reporting
- Support development of scalable revenue accounting policies and procedures as the company and its product offerings evolve
- What Success Looks Like:
- You will help build a revenue accounting function that is accurate, scalable, auditable, and closely connected to how the business actually operates
- You will be able to trace revenue from commercial terms and customer activity through billing and ultimately to the general ledger, while helping the company launch new products and pricing models without creating unnecessary accounting complexity

Whilst the development of generative AI is thought to be the reserve of large companies like Open AI, smaller startups such as Firework AI are making this technology easier to access and develop for smaller companies wanting to handle specific business needs using AI. As an open-source model API, it has one of the largest user bases - with over 12,000 users leveraging Fireworks AI’s software.
Though lacking the brand name recognition of generative AI developers like Google and Meta, Fireworks AI differentiates itself in a market crowded with large competitors through its unique approach to deploying its software. It creates smaller, production-grade, customizable generative AI models that can be launched privately and securely, rather than the non-private and inflexible models built by larger companies.
After its 2025 Series C round of $250M, Fireworks AI has been valued at over $4B, an impressive sum for a David in a sea of Goliaths. The company plans to use its funding to reshape AI infrastructure as well as expand globally. It will be interesting to see how the company evolves with its potentially disruptive business approach to generative AI.
