Role
Who you are
- You have previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role
- You understand the concept of managing data pipelines as code and have experience with git, CI/CD
- You can collect, collate, cleanse, synthesise and interpret data to derive meaningful and actionable insights
- You have technical expertise with data models & data mining and translate data into valuable insights that inform decisions
- You have experience with major cloud platforms, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure or AWS (Google Cloud preferred)
- You have deep understanding of SQL and data processing tools like dbt and are comfortable working with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
- You have been working with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query and can build data processing products in python
Desirable
- You have experience with financial databases e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, Capital IQ
- You have an understanding of green software practices, data mesh, master data management
- You can communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context
- You can design, write and iterate code from prototype to production-ready
- You can effectively translate and accurately communicate across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- You can develop fit-for-purpose, resilient, scalable and future-proof data services to meet user needs
- You have a degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field or equivalent experience
What the job involves
- Arc is now looking for a driven Data Engineer to support the design, build and maintenance of our data warehouse
- You will work closely with our Research and Program team as well as end users and other stakeholders at every stage of the process
- Analyse and organize raw data
- Build data systems and pipelines in collaboration with the Data Architect
- Interpret trends and patterns
- Conduct complex data analysis and report on results
- Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modelling
- Build algorithms and prototypes
- Combine raw information from different sources
- Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
- Identify opportunities for data acquisition
- Develop analytical tools and programs

- 1st round interview: Recruiting Manager (30 to 45 minute MS Teams video call)
- Offline task (1 to 1.5 hours)
- Formal interview (over MS Teams) with the Hiring Manager and panel (1 hour)
Our take

Ultimately, Arc aims to channel philanthropic funding to NGOs and projects that are deemed to significantly contribute to to decarbonisation of the economy. The company, in consulting with other organisations, leverages a science-based approach and stands as an advocate for net-zero actions.
Arc's credibility is further enhanced by the founder's long-time professional commitment to climate-focused investments and strategy, as well as an association with the Children's Investment Fund Foundation. Nevertheless, it will take a few years before one can know how much of an impact Arc will have in this space, but it certainly has a mountain of potential.
