What the job involves

As a Business Development Representative (BDR), you'll be one of the first points of contact between Axiom and some of the world's leading companies. Your goal: create meaningful conversations with prospective clients and generate qualified opportunities for our sales team
The BDR position is Axiom’s entry-level sales role and serves as the talent pool for our Mid-Market Account Executive team. It’s ideal for ambitious individuals eager to build a successful career in B2B sales by learning how to research sophisticated prospects, conduct thoughtful, high-quality outreach, and create opportunities with senior decision-makers
You'll receive hands-on training and coaching, strong mentorship, all while working closely with Account Executives to develop pipeline and support Axiom's continued growth
Identify opportunities: Research target companies, senior decision-makers, and potential legal needs
Drive strategic outreach: Engage prospects through thoughtful cold calls, personalized emails, and other outbound channels
Qualify and create pipeline: Uncover business challenges and turn strong prospects into qualified meetings for the sales team
Partner with Account Executives: Align on target accounts, prospecting strategies, and follow-up
Own your pipeline: Keep prospect activity and follow-up organized, maintain accurate CRM records, and ensure opportunities don't fall through the cracks
Deliver against goals: Work toward clear activity, meeting, and pipeline targets while continuously looking for ways to improve your results
Build your sales skills: Apply coaching and feedback to strengthen your prospecting, discovery, communication, and objection handling
A Fast Track to Account Executive
We see the BDR role as a launchpad, not a destination. High-performing BDRs can progress into an Account Executive role in as soon as 12 months, giving you a clear path to take on greater responsibility, own client relationships, and continue building your sales career at Axiom

Our take

Axiom provides high-caliber legal talent, counting more than 3,500 legal departments across the globe. The company launched in 2000 and serves more than 75% of the Fortune 100 today. It offers a wide range of solutions to meet legal needs, from on-demand attorneys to supplement companies' legal departments, to senior paralegals to review legal forms and business contracts.

Traditionally, law firms were the dominant providers in the legal industry and their hierarchical partnership structure was a major obstacle for anyone trying to overcome that prevailing model. Axiom's founder saw an opportunity to reconfigure legal delivery and set out to construct a law company to respond to the growing misalignment between firm lawyers and equity partners as well as firms and clients. Axiom has recruited lawyers from top firms while cutting most traditional extra costs, enabling it to offer high-quality services at a much lower price than the wider legal industry.

Axiom received its first funding round in 2000, raising $5.4M, three subsequent funding rounds have followed. These investments fuelled expansion over time and allowed the company to invest in technology, a talented workforce, and a strong senior management bench. Going forward, Axiom will keep expanding its legal professional talent offering and it will likely maintain its focus on tech, as exemplified by its acquisition of legal tech firm Plexus Engage in 2022.
