Who you are
- We seek high-ownership self-starters deeply motivated by delivering end-user impact
- Extensive experience building frameworks, libraries, and distributed systems—reliability, observability, and performance focused
- Strong software development background with hands-on expertise in Python or languages such as Go, Java, Node.js, or C++
- Proven ability to deliver production-ready software, including RESTful APIs and infrastructure to industry standards
- Track record of owning and delivering complex projects from concept through deployment
- Experience in fast-paced, startup or high-growth environments
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style

What the job involves
- As a member of this team, you will collaborate across functions to design and implement solutions that enhance the speed, scalability, and quality of EvenUp’s document generation engine
- Your work will directly advance EvenUp’s mission to ensure personal injury victims receive fair compensation
- You'll enhance EvenUp’s AI-native and expert-review document generation workflows
- Implement and integrate LLM-based solutions to improve customer outcomes
- Build systems to evaluate efficacy, quality, and reliability of core customer deliverables
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of EvenUp’s document generation products at the forefront of applied AI
- Partner with company leaders to execute mission-critical, high-impact initiatives
- Uphold a high quality bar and apply data-driven insights to deliver exceptional customer experiences
- Product Development for AI-Native Workflows: You'll contribute to end-to-end AI workflows; integrate traditional SaaS systems with AI applications; prototype new features balancing innovation with pragmatism
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with founders, product managers, and designers to brainstorm, scope, and deliver new product features
- Architecture & Engineering Excellence: Establish best practices for architecture, coding, and delivery. Build user-facing experiences, services, APIs, and systems
- Code Quality & Security: Ship secure, compliant, production-ready code for sensitive data; ensure quality via tests, reviews, and adherence to standards; monitor, debug, and optimize system performance
- Mentorship & Team Growth: Review code, mentor teammates, contribute to team culture, retrospectives, and ongoing improvement
- Operational Ownership: Participate in on-call rotations, resolve production issues, reduce operational toil, and document processes
Our take
Every year, millions of personal injury cases in the US are resolved with only a small fraction going to trial, leaving many victims potentially under-compensated due to inaccurate settlement proposals. EvenUp aims to change this by leveraging AI technology to streamline the assessment of injury cases.
The AI tools evaluate raw case files, including medical and police records, creating tailored "demand packages" that present comprehensive compensation arguments. This improves lawyer performance and victim outcomes.
Despite concerns about AI bias and privacy, EvenUp has garnered significant investor interest, closing a funding round in 2025 that was one of the largest in the history of legal AI. Now valued at over $2 billion, it is investing in its team and introducing new techniques and products for personal injury and other legal areas.
