Role
Who you are
- Experienced Sourcer: You have 6+ years of experience in technical sourcing or recruiting, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment
- Tech-Savvy: You possess a strong understanding of technical roles, skills, and the tech landscape, allowing you to effectively identify and assess top talent. You have a track record sourcing for technical and industry-specialist roles simultaneously
- Proactive Communicator: You excel at engaging candidates through thoughtful outreach and building long-term relationships with potential hires. You are curious and you love learning about people and how they can contribute to Sofar's overall mission
- Results-Driven: You thrive in a metrics-driven environment and are motivated by the challenge of meeting and exceeding sourcing goals. You have a comfort with Boolean search, ATS tools (we use Ashby), and creative channels beyond LinkedIn
- Adaptable: You are comfortable navigating change and ambiguity in a growing company and are always looking for ways to improve and innovate your sourcing approach. You have a independent operator mindset, comfortable owning your pipeline with minimal hand-holding
- Mission-Aligned: You are passionate about Sofar Ocean’s mission to connect the world’s oceans and want to be part of a team that makes a real impact on the planet
What the job involves
- As a Sourcing Partner at Sofar Ocean, you will be at the forefront of our recruiting efforts, focusing on identifying, engaging, and building relationships with top-tier talent in the industry as it relates to maritime and climate tech
- You will partner closely with our People Team and hiring managers to deeply understand our hiring needs and source candidates who will thrive in our fast-paced, mission-driven environment
Our take
Drastically changing climates are one of the foremost issues of our time. As we work to limit the impact of this crisis, we need trustworthy data to see how these changes have manifested, and what trajectory our world is on. This is where Solar Ocean comes in, with its global network of ocean-monitoring buoys.
Sofar operates the largest network of its kind, with thousands of solar-powered ‘spotters’ across the world’s oceans delivering updates every day. Its product is used primarily by climate scientists, but also has important applications in shipping, weather forecasting and maritime research.
Even though Sofar's spotters aren’t as sophisticated as similar government-funded ones, the sheer scale of its data collection makes its forecasts far more accurate. The funding it has raised is supporting the further extension of its network and development of its data services.
