Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of experience in communications or public relations, preferably a mix of in-house and agency and/or political organizations
- Experience driving communications and advocacy strategies around complex public policy issues
- Experience working on rapid response with internal stakeholders
- Experience managing global agency partners
- Someone who moves fast, is focused on delivering results, and has a track record of working well across a diverse group of internal and external partners
- A succinct and creative writer
- Someone who is people-focused, passionate, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do
- A proactive problem solver, with strong instincts for when to escalate issues
- A team player who’s collaborative, supportive, and celebrates others’ wins
- Communications skills, written and verbal, are stellar
- Experience working on online safety in gaming, tech or online platforms is a bonus
What the job involves
- The Epic Communications team advances the company’s narrative and represents Epic products and the company vision to external and internal audiences globally. We create positive relationships and engagement strategies with a wide range of audiences, including media, investors, influencers, and policymakers
- Epic is looking for an experienced communications professional to join our corporate communications and international team. In this role you will create and execute communications plans around high stakes policy, legal and regulatory developments, that impact Epic and the video game industry at large
- Create proactive and reactive communications strategies on priority policy, regulatory and legal developments, such as online safety
- Partner with the public policy team on impactful public affairs campaigns globally to build understanding of and support for our products and safety approaches
- Partner with Epic’s Trust and Safety team on storytelling around our industry-leading approach to online safety and product features
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop proactive storytelling opportunities around Epic’s business, products, and technology in Latin America and Canada
- Educate external stakeholders including third parties and media about Epic’s public policy and regulatory priorities
- Establish and maintain relationships with journalists globally including technology, business and policy media on behalf of Epic
- Be part of the team that manages Epic’s rapid response efforts, working in fast-paced environments to address issues with players, consumers, and policy makers

Epic Games is the creator of Fortnite, Unreal, Gears of War, Shadow Complex, and the Infinity Blade series of games. Epic's Unreal Engine technology brings high-fidelity, interactive experiences to PC, console, mobile, AR, VR and the Web. And its recent announcement - Unreal Engine 5.7 - is set to lay the technical foundations for countless future releases.
Epic Games' model focuses on two key areas: creating games and offering its game engine technology to other developers. Doing this means that Epic's brand stretches beyond their own direct creations. The company has been able to put its name to some of the most iconic games of the last 20 years. Its most recent success is undoubtedly the creation of Fortnite, which has gained hundreds of millions of users since its launch in 2017.
Long-established as one of the leaders in its field, these are undoubtedly exciting times for Epic Games. The release of next-generation consoles like the PS5 has enabled the company to push the limits of its software, meaning it'll lead the charge in the creation of next-gen games. 2024 also saw an unprecedented investment in Epic Games by Disney, amounting to $1.5B. This will enable Disney to promote iconic characters through the Fortnite game. With the number of people enjoying video games continuing to grow, there is no sign of Epic Games slowing down any time soon.
