Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or related field or comparable experience
- 6+ years of marketing experience, with 2+ years in a managerial role
- MBA or Master’s degree preferred
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Strong experience in direct mail, email, or digital marketing (the more channels the better!)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with SQL and Python
- Financial Services industry experience
- This position may require you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If required, you'll be asked to provide proof that you’re fully vaccinated upon your start date or before working in or visiting our Chicago office

- Experience with Looker or Tableau

What the job involves
- Avant is seeking a motivated, self-starting individual to help develop and refine our marketing strategies for Credit Card and Personal Loan products
- The Marketing Manager will be a key driver of strategy and performance, collaborating with internal teams to ensure success against growth targets while retaining acquired customers through customer lifecycle efforts
- Using a data-driven, audience-first approach, this role will be highly analytical in order to target high quality prospects with precision
- You will be primarily responsible for leading Direct Mail, Email, and Digital strategy and have the opportunity to branch out to other marketing channels across acquisition, lifecycle, and brand
- Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies and roadmaps for Credit Card and Personal Loan products
- Lead and mentor a small team, helping them grow into stronger team members
- Conduct detailed data analysis to evaluate marketing performance and customer insights
- Build and maintain measurement frameworks to measure the profitability of marketing initiatives
- Monitor and report on marketing performance and ROI
- Oversee the creation and implementation of marketing campaigns across channels
- Collaborate with product development, sales, and other departments
- Manage your channel’s marketing budgets and allocate resources effectively
- Dig into the data and perform analysis to support strategic decisions
- Drive growth initiatives for Credit Card and Personal Loan products
- Develop and present business cases for new marketing initiatives
Our take
Many Americans with below average credit scores are caught in a bind: they're unable to improve their score, and simultaneously cannot access traditional loans. Avant's alternative is to offer credit options that are based on machine learning and a large database to manage their risk. The business has issued over $8 billion in loans to date.
The company offers a quick credit decision and speedy access to any allotted funds. It paired up with Zero Financial in 2021, expanding its business to the digital banking space. It plans to offer a whole suite of products in a single platform, such as loans, credit cards, and deposits.
Many fintechs are looking at ways to remove the traditional barriers that people with low credit scores face when trying to take out loans. Avant is not alone in this space, but by expanding its offering to banking products as well, it has increased its customer appeal and its reach. The company has recently received a large investment from Ares Management Alternative Credit Funds, enabling it to expand its credit portfolio and further develop its platform.
