Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of industry experience as a full-cycle recruiter, ideally within a startup or tech environment
- Prior experience recruiting for business roles (marketing, sales, operations, etc.)
- Deep knowledge of the U.S. marketing industry and talent landscape
- Proficiency in sourcing tools, Boolean search, and market mapping
- Experience using applicant tracking systems such as Greenhouse, Lever, or Ashby
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a candidate-centric approach
What the job involves
- As a Recruiter at Speak, you will play a key role in building world-class teams across marketing, content, operations, and have the opportunity to flex into engineering, product, and design as needed
- You’ll be responsible for sourcing, recruiting, and coordinating interviews for a variety of business roles, including B2B marketing, operations, and content
- This role is essential in ensuring we attract and hire top talent who align with our culture and business objectives
- You’ll work closely with our U.S. team to map talent in the region and serve as the first point of contact for candidates
- Above all, you’ll be instrumental in hiring Speak’s most valuable asset—its people
- Partner with hiring managers to understand hiring needs and develop tailored recruiting strategies
- Source candidates through job boards, social media, networking, referrals, and other sourcing channels
- Map the U.S. talent market using tools like LinkedIn and local job networks
- Coordinate and schedule interviews between candidates and hiring managers
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from job posting to offer acceptance
- Build and maintain a strong candidate pipeline within our applicant tracking system (ATS). We currently use Ashby
- Ensure a seamless candidate experience, keeping candidates informed and engaged throughout the process
- Develop and refine job descriptions in collaboration with hiring managers
- Stay updated on recruiting trends and best practices to continuously improve our hiring approach
- Track and analyze hiring metrics, providing data-driven insights to optimize sourcing strategies
- Collaborate with content and business leaders to anticipate and support future hiring needs
Our take
As the international language of business, there are many incentives for global entrepreneurs to learn English. With over 1.5 billion people actively learning the language to better their chances in the job market, the customer base for Speak, an AI tutor in the English language is potentially massive.
Investors believe so too, with tens of millions of dollars raised to fund the company from a range of international firms including Korean investors and the Silicon Valley-based OpenAI Fund. This surge of capital will help Speak develop its software and open new markets, especially in the US.
Speak is attempting to break into a human-saturated education market and the success of learning English fluently through its platform is yet to be proven. That being said, it has the potential to become a leading tool specifically in the mobile app sector if it can prove itself as efficient and accessible as the language learning platform DuoLingo.
