Who you are

3+ years coding for customer-facing SPA and/or mobile apps
Experience debugging and triaging in production

What the job involves

Plan: Align with product and design partners on specs (make sure you “get it” before you “build it”). Breakdown requirements into right-sized iterations that can be delivered with high quality and clear metrics
Design: Lead the technical design for new features and enhancements with a security-first mindset. Strike the right balance between good, fast and cheap. Drive consensus (or at least commitment) among your teammates
Code: Build consumer-grade experiences using React, React Native, GraphQL and other best-of-breed technologies. Close the loop on everything you build with friendly documentation and meaningful testing
Measure: Influence business and product decisions using data (ad-hoc reports, dashboards, models and automation)

Our take

In this new remote-working world, void of gossip around the water-cooler, Airspeed aims to better connect professionals with their colleagues through a shared social app. Originally born out of the pandemic, the company was created to combat the ‘digital disconnect’ from remote working that can serve as a leading cause of unproductivity, burnout and therefore dissatisfaction amongst employees.

Whilst LinkedIn exists to allow for professional connections, Airspeed encourages more personal, fun, and casual interactions that you would otherwise have in an office environment - as it believes that a connected team is a better team. In 2023 it launched "Coffee Talk", an AI-powered app that connects colleagues for meaningful virtual coffee meetups.

The company has raised considerable funds that will be used to expand operations and its business reach. With many other players in the market looking to address the need to reconnect remote employees, it will be interesting to see whether the company can establish itself in this crowded sector with its social media-based approach.
