Company mission
To provide a simplistic approach to the complex problems associated with digital insurance.
Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in IT systems administration or IT support across more than one company or environment
- Hands-on experience administering Google Workspace and a SaaS-heavy stack, including identity and access management
- Experience managing macOS devices with an MDM (Iru, Jamf, or similar)
- Working knowledge of AWS, including IAM basics
- Comfort with shell scripting or Python to automate routine tasks
- Exposure to security tooling (CSPM, EDR, SIEM, or vulnerability scanners) and a strong interest in growing on the security side
- A service-first attitude. You are patient, clear, and friendly with non-technical teammates
- The courage to jump into unfamiliar systems, ask how urgent a request is, and prioritize without waiting for permission
- Clear written communication. You document your work so others can follow it
- Nice to have: experience supporting a SOC 2 or PCI audit, experience with Wiz or Datadog, or experience working alongside software engineers in a SaaS company
What the job involves
- Sure's IT and Infrastructure team keeps a remote company, its SaaS stack, and its cloud environment running and secure. We are hiring an IT Systems Engineer to own day-to-day IT for the whole company and to be the person our engineers, DevOps team, and security lead can count on to get things done
- You will report to our VP of IT and work closely with our DevOps engineers. The work is broad. One hour you are provisioning access for a new hire, the next you are tracking down why an endpoint is out of compliance, and later you are pulling evidence for a SOC 2 audit. You won't know every tool on day one, and that's fine. We care more about how you jump into something unfamiliar and figure it out
- Own the service desk. Triage and resolve IT requests from a fully remote team through Slack and our ticketing system
- Provision, change, and remove user access across Google Workspace, Slack, AWS, and the rest of our SaaS stack. Keep onboarding and offboarding clean and fast
- Manage our Mac fleet through MDM. Handle procurement, shipping, repair, recovery, and inventory for company equipment
- Administer company tooling so the rest of the team doesn't have to
- Support our security program. Triage alerts and findings from tools like Wiz, Datadog, and our endpoint protection, and route them to the right engineer with clear context
- Collect and organize evidence for SOC 2 and PCI audits, and help fill out customer security questionnaires
- Write down what you learn. Build runbooks and documentation so fixes happen once, not every time
- Recommend and implement improvements to IT policies, processes, and tools. Use AI and scripting to automate repeat work
Our take
Sure is a software-as-a-service provider that powers API-based digital insurance programs for enterprises and brands. Rather than underwriting the insurance themselves, Sure acts as a platform that enables brands to sell their own insurance packages, which are actually underwritten by legacy insurers like Nationwide, Chubb and MetLife.
Not long ago, the company partnered with Zibo to streamline the renters' insurance process for tenants, a smart move in a world that used to be exclusively in person and is transitioning to digital. There are great benefits to having insurance and rent management under one online roof, for landlords and tenants alike. It has since teamed up with PorchPals for embedded package insurance and was recognised as one of the fastest-growing tech companies in North America.
The recent arrival of competitor Boost - founded by Sure's Series A venture capital backer - hasn’t deterred the company at all. In fact, Sure claims to be profitable and boasts an impressive range of clients – like Tesla, Intuit, and Mastercard.
