What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Data Analyst to be the analytical partner to our Monetization team
- You’ll own how we measure and grow revenue across our portfolio of mobile apps and web properties, spanning subscriptions, in-app purchases, advertising, and partner offers, and turn that into clear recommendations on pricing, packaging, and revenue mix
- The ideal candidate has exceptional SQL and Python skills, hands-on experience with consumer subscription apps, and the rigor to design pricing experiments that hold up
- Design, build, and maintain common datasets and data pipelines that strengthen self-service analytics and enable data-driven decision making across the organization
- Improve data quality, accuracy, reliability, and documentation to strengthen self-service analytics
- Own revenue and monetization metrics across the portfolio, including ARPU/ARPDAU, LTV, trial-to-paid conversion, renewal and churn rates, refunds, and revenue mix by source
- Design and analyze pricing, packaging, and paywall experiments (price points, trial length, plan structure, paywall placement and copy), and read results with statistical rigor
- Build subscription cohort and LTV models that inform pricing decisions and feed back into UA bidding and payback targets
- Analyze ad monetization performance, including eCPM, fill rate, impressions per user, and mediation/bidding setup, and balance ad revenue against retention and user experience
- Measure the economics of partner offers and rewards, including revenue earned vs. rewards paid out, to keep the rewards model profitable
- Reconcile revenue data across app stores, subscription platforms, ad networks, and internal systems, and investigate discrepancies
- Partner with Monetization, Product, and GMs on revenue forecasting, opportunity sizing, and roadmap prioritization
- Communicate analytical findings through clear, compelling narratives to drive alignment, inform prioritization, and deliver measurable business impact
Our take
Mode Mobile delivers a pioneering approach to gamification in its flagship product, Mode Earn Phone, as well as its rewards-based Mode Earn App. Customers can acquire this smartphone at a budget-friendly price point, allowing them to utilize it as they would any other mobile device while also offering the potential to earn upwards of $1,000 annually through various interactive methods.
In a digital environment increasingly saturated with gamified applications, Mode Mobile has set itself apart by applying this concept to an entire mobile device. Since its inception in 2020, the company has rapidly attracted a substantial user base, numbering in the millions. The trajectory of its user base growth is closely watched, as it presents a groundbreaking shift in the way mobile devices are used and valued.
While Mode Mobile's strategy may raise eyebrows due to its potential to further increase mobile device usage and data entry, proponents argue that given the extensive time users spend on their devices and the wealth of data generated, it's a logical step to leverage these activities for financial gain. With a strong start, Mode Mobile can gear up to expand its team and introduce additional products, setting sights on disrupting the entire mobile market.
