Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of financial analysis experience and currently a Senior Financial Analyst or experienced analyst with extensive experience in forecasting, budgeting, operations, data analysis and reporting; experience in SaaS a plus
- BS or BA in Accounting, Finance or Economics is preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a creative outlook on how to get results - thrives in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrated experience working with and managing multiple tasks in a very fast paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision and attention to detail
- Strong data presentation skills to the Senior Leadership Team
- Strong analytical, logical, and problem solving skills (will be subject to a case study)
- Exceptional excel modeling skills (will be subject to Excel test)
- Strong attention to detail with focus on financial forecasting accuracy
- Ability to partner and influence business leaders - proven teamwork skills
- Self starter and passion for making an impact
- Workday/Adaptive experience (or other FP&A forecasting software) is preferred
- Previous SAAS or eCommerce and public company experience is preferred
What the job involves
- We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst on our Financial Planning & Analysis team
- The Senior Financial Analyst is a trusted advisor on company wide financial matters
- You will analyze data and develop recommendations that will drive business decisions and BigCommerce’s growth
- The FP&A team at BigCommerce provides the opportunity to work on a diverse set of projects outside of normal responsibilities, enabling extensive full P&L and widespread FP&A experience
- To be successful as a senior financial analyst, you should be able to perform a variety of financial activities including planning, analysis, budgeting, and reporting
- You should also have strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and be able to present financial information and models in a concise and easily comprehensible manner
- Be a trusted business partner and advisor to your client organization(s) in matters related to financial planning & analysis with minimal oversight from FP&A senior leadership
- You will serve as the Finance point of contact for General & Administrative expenses and Product and Engineering expense globally – this includes all forecasting, analysis, budgeting, ad hoc reporting, headcount planning, etc
- You will work closely with business partners and get exposure to senior leaders while you become a subject matter expert
- Perform analysis in collaboration with the analytics and operations teams and provide actionable insights to leadership
- Take ownership in financial planning and analysis processes with metrics and data insights for financial risks, opportunities, and investment decisions
- Build and implement new reporting for go to market leaders in specific regions
- Present monthly performance during meetings to the leadership team for your respective areas of responsibility
- Perform ad hoc ROI analysis and develop recommendations on next steps
- Lead, own and perform the monthly expense and revenue forecasting and annual planning processes to public company standards
- Prepare executive-level management reporting, summarizing findings and recommendations

SaaS eCommerce platform BigCommerce is taking full advantage of the recent shift towards online shopping with its software that helps businesses of all sizes build and run eCommerce sites. Aside from providing a template for stores with functions including shipping and payment tracking, it also provides tools to cross-sell on other markets such as Amazon.
BigCommerce competes in this space with Shopify, another major eCommerce provider. While both companies have their adherents, BigCommerce's competitive advantage is in the sheer range of built-in features provided to its customers and the transparency of its pricing structure. While it can be more complicated to learn its flexibility is prized by the customers who have mastered its features. These include major brands such as Ted Baker, Skullcandy and Burrow to name just a few.
BigCommerce went public in 2020 with a valuation of almost $7 billion. Since then it has expanded aggressively into Europe and the Latin American market, including closing partnerships which enable BigCommerce vendors to sell on Mercado Libre. It is currently focusing on developing its enterprise offering as part of a shift towards profitability rather than continued market expansion as it seeks to navigate through the tricky economic situation for global eCommerce retailers in 2023.
