Role
Who you are
- You have significant experience building high-performance backend services or libraries
- You understand the nuances of the language and how to write code that others find easy to read and import
- You have architected and managed production workloads on AWS or other clouds
- You know your way around ECS, RDS, Lambda and data streaming services, and you understand the trade-offs between cost, performance, and complexity
- You have a history of building tools that make developers' lives easier. You understand that documentation is a feature, and you take pride in writing clear, accessible guides for your tools
What the job involves
- We are looking for an engineer who can balance high-level architectural design in AWS with low-level backend coding in Go
- You will bridge the gap between infrastructure and application code
- You will find and implement opportunities to increase every developer’s leverage
- Architect "golden paths”
- You will build and maintain the core shared libraries, SDKs, and code-generation tools (gRPC, OpenAPI) that power our entire engineering organization. Our goal is to abstract away complexity so product teams can ship features faster and safer
- Design and optimize cloud infrastructure:
- You will take ownership of our AWS ecosystem (ECS, RDS, MSK, etc.). You will design capable architectures on a whiteboard and are comfortable getting your hands dirty debugging production performance, tuning database parameters, and automating toil
- Treat the platform as the product:
- You will embed with product teams to understand their friction points, treating them as your customers. You will champion a philosophy where we build tools that are intuitive and helpful
- Elevate observability:
- You will set the standard for how we observe and debug our systems. This involves going deep into the stack to debug distributed system failures, improving our alerting strategy to reduce noise, and teaching the wider engineering team how to troubleshoot effectively
- Be a mentor and technical leader:
- You will also drive technical standards across the company by documenting patterns, writing clear guides, presenting to all engineers, and mentoring engineers on best practices

Fixed income securities are investments that provide a steady interest income stream for a certain period. Their appeal is clear, but the infrastructure for navigating the market has historically been fragmented, opaque and highly manual - which is what Moment sets out to fix.
Moment is a modern take on fixed income infrastructure. Through a set of institutional-grade APIs, its clients can navigate the quickly evolving fixed income markets much easier, with functions including automated execution, risk management tools, and powerful analytics.
Collectively, Moment's APIs already power fixed income investing for firms representing upwards of $100 billion in assets, and it has evidently made good strides towards its goal to transform fixed income into a modern financial market. With funding secured from Andreessen Horowitz, among others, the company is ready to expand its team, operations, R&D efforts and grow its partnerships with financial institutions.
